Panasonic announces the ultra compact system camera DMC-GF5 with 3D shooting capability.

*For 3D shooting, an optional 3D interchangeable lens is required.

Panasonic introduces 2012 first-half new LUMIX compact cameras with 3D photo mode: DMC-FX80 , DMC-ZS20(TZ30), DMC-ZS15(TZ25), DMC-TS4(FT4).
The 3D photo mode* produces a 3D image in the camera. Take 20 panning shots and the camera automatically selects two most suitable images - one for the right eye and one for the left eye - to synthesize a 3D composite.
*The picture size is fixed to 2-megapixel (16:9).

The International 3D Society announced the companies and organizations to be honored at its 2012 3D Technology Awards on January 19th in Hollywood. Panasonic received following technology awards.

2) Blu-ray Disc Association “Blu-ray 3D Specification”
3) Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative “FHD3DGI Standard” (Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, and XPAND)

The Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player DMP-BDT320 won Best of Innovation in the Innovation 2012 Design & Engineering Awards. The HDC-Z10000 3D Camcorder, the 55-inch VT50 HDTV, and the TH-65VX300U Professional Plasma Display received recognition in the Innovations 2012 Design & Engineering Awards as Honorees.

Panasonic & NBC Sports Group partner to distribute London 2012 Olympic games in 3D in the U.S.
The 3D broadcasts, which will be produced by OBS and shown on next-day delay, will span multiple competitions throughout the London 2012 Olympic Games, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, gymnastics, diving and swimming. OBS will produce more than 200 hours of 3D coverage during the London 2012 Olympic Games by utilizing Panasonic’s state-of-art 3D production technologies including the AG-3DP1, a P2HD professional fully-integrated twin-lens Full HD 3D camera recorder. Cable, satellite, and telco providers who receive the Olympics package may distribute the 3D broadcast via the Comcast Media Center.
