The SA-BX500 features decoders that are compatible with all the latest 7.1-channel surround sound formats adopted by the Blu-ray Disc standard. This ensures that you will get full enjoyment of the excellent sound quality of your Blu-ray Discs.
Panasonic's originally developed Virtual Surround function gives you the lifelike ambience of a 7.1-channel surround sound system from a 5.1-channel speaker system when it isn't possible to install 8 speakers.

Virtual Surround Back Speaker

When the front speakers are connected in a bi-amp, bi-wiring configuration, the SA-BX500 will automatically switch its internal circuits each time it receives a 2-channel signal and reproduce the sound using the bi-amp, bi-wiring system. Thanks to Panasonic's exclusive, proprietary technology, the speaker cables do not need to be reconnected to switch between 2-channel and 7.1-channel sound.

High-performance DSP
The decoder section is equipped with two high-performance 32bit floating-point digital signal processors (the new SHARC manufactured by Analog Devices, Inc.) to perform complex decoding unique to HD-Audio signals and process high-speed 192kHz signals, with room to spare. In addition, we tune peripheral parts with an original technology that achieves lossless signal processing for more dynamic, more realistic sound reproduction.*SHARC is a registerd trademark of Analog Devices, Inc.
