Blu-ray Disc™ Media for Business Users
The use of unique, highly reliable, inorganic (phase-change) recording layers achieves a data archiving life of more than 50 years*.
*According to accelerated age tests conducted by Panasonic.
• A vertically integrated production system — from material development to the final production process — is used in a Panasonic factory.
• Highly reliable products are provided under stringent quality controls by the Media Business Division, Tsuyama Factory (in Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan).
The following quality inspections related to archiving performance are conducted for Archive Grade discs. Only the discs that pass these stringent quality standards are shipped from the factory.
• Servo Inspection
A drive inspection (see photo at right) using actual disc drives is conducted on each and every disc to check their servo characteristics.
• Accelerated Age Test (High-Temperature/High-Humidity Test)
Entire production lots undergo an accelerated age test using standards based on the results of an estimated lifespan test.
This double-protective coating consists of a highly rigid "hard coat" layer and a highly elastic "cover layer" to protect the disc from scratches, dust, stains, fingerprints, and pressure marks.
An anti-bending coat is added to the label surface to achieve strong resistance to disc warping due to changes in temperature and humidity.
• Panasonic's Blu-ray™ Discs feature the following four durability functions. These functions have been verified by stringent quality standard tests conducted by a third-party certification institution (TÜV Rheinland).
