The Leica Dicomar lens was developed jointly by world renowned Leica Camera AG and Panasonic to clear stringent quality standards as an ideal lens system for HD camcorders. The high-performance Leica lens includes our low-dispersion lens and aspherical lens to provide both high resolution and contrast. And the multi-coated lenses help suppress ghosts and flaring, so you get sharp, crisp images even in strong outdoor lighting.

The O.I.S. cancels the hand-shake effect by stabilizing the image that reaches the sensor. Unlike the electrical stabilization system, the optical stabilization system causes almost no deterioration or unnatural touch-up. This also works for still images with megapixel resolution*1, for which it doubles*2 the corrective power compared with moving images. The O.I.S. checks and compensates for hand-shake around 4,000 times per second. With this enhanced correction capability, even zoomed images are incredibly clear, sharp and beautiful. The HYBRID O.I.S. adds to the optical stabilization system by also activating an electrical stabilization system when zooming, to achieve approximately two times*3 the stabilization capability.

3 MOS sensors, with their large light-receiving area, are used. Each of the three primary colors is processed just the way it is. That means there is almost no light loss and the color information is accurate.

The Crystal Engine PRO renders highly precise, life-like colors while new noise shaping filters further improve processing precision. This high-speed processing unit not only handles huge volumes of data, but also enables a wide dynamic range that suppresses blown highlights and blocked shadows to give you natural, lifelike images.

Panasonic has developed its own Wide-Range Motion Search Engine with Variable Bit Rate System. It renders fast-moving subjects with outstanding precision. It also reproduces MPEG2 images in LP mode with the same level of resolution as images in SP mode.
