FH22/FH20/FS33/FS30 TOP

28mm Wide-angle Lens with Powerful 8x Optical Zoom

28mm Wide-angle 8x Optical Zoom Lens in a Compact Body

The DMC-FH22/FH20(FS33/FS30) features a newly developed 28mm wide-angle* high quality LUMIX DC VARIO lens with powerful 8x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 28-224mm) into a slim, compact body. Comprising 9 elements in 7 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit realizes the outstandingly slim and compact body, yet achieving exceptional optical performance.

* Converted to standard 35mm camera equivalent, at the maximum wide position.

Powerful 8x Optical Zoom

The DMC-FH22/FH20(FS33/FS30) sports a powerful 8x optical zoom lens (35mm camera equivalent: 28-224mm). This gives you highly natural expressions from people and animals that you can't get close to. And its slim, compact, pocket-sized body can easily go wherever you do - for both everyday snapshots and traveling.

The 8x Zoom Keeps the Subject Sharp While Giving the Background a Soft Focus

The DMC-FH22/FH20
(FS33/FS30) takes advantage of their 8x zoom (35mm equivalent: 224mm). You can snap photos that capture the subject in a clear, sharp focus while giving the background a beautiful soft focus.

Up to 16.9x Extra Optical Zoom

The Extra Optical Zoom*1 uses the center of the CCD to further extend the powerful 8x optical zoom when a resolution of less than 14.1-megapixel is used. This extends the zoom ratio up to 16.9x (35mm camera equivalent: 473mm) for images with 3-megapixel resolution or less. Adding the Extra Optical Zoom to the 4x digital zoom*2 extends the total zooming power to a maximum of 67.5x.

*1 At a resolution of 3-megapixel or less. In the DMC-FH22/FH20(FS33/FS30), image resolution is kept at its maximum size to the optical tele-end even if the Extra Optical Zoom is ON.
*2 As digital magnification increases, resolution significantly decreases.

28mm Wide-angle Lens

The 28mm wide-angle lens* lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective, even from short distances.

* Converted to standard 35mm camera equivalent, at the maximum wide position.

14.1-megapixel High-resolution CCD

The DMC-FH22/FH20(FS33/FS30) features a 1/2.33-inch CCD with effective 14.1-megapixel high-resolution.

Sonic Speed AF

Sonic Speed AF

The Sonic Speed AF system in the DMC-FH22(FS33) / FH20(FS30) has a maximum speed of approx. 0.35 second for auto focusing*. It includes numerous re-engineering enhancements, including a higher-speed actuator, optimized algorithms and parallel software processing. The result is fast and accurate AF performance. You can quickly get moving subjects in focus, such as when you're shooting sports scenes.

* Using the 1-area AF, at the wide-end.

Fast Start-up Time

The previous linear processing program has been replaced with parallel processing to save 0.23 second off the start-up time*. This has resulted in ultra high-speed start-ups of approx. 0.97 second.

* Compared with the previous model, the DMC-FS25/FS15. Vary depending on the shooting condition.

Release Time Lag

The shutter release time lag is as short as approx. 0.006 second, making it easy to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities.

Venus Engine

The Venus Engine for the DMC-FH22(FS33) / FH20(FS30) uses advanced signal processing to give you beautiful images even when the sensitivity is high. Multi-task signal processing is employed for all images to enable high-speed, high-performance shooting. Venus Engine also effectively raises the precision of various functions, such as MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) and Intelligent ISO Control. Along with its extremely high performance, Venus Engine reduces power consumption thanks to a number of energy efficiency improvements.

Higher Image Quality with Advanced Signal Processing

Panasonic's advanced noise reduction system in the Venus Engine applies noise reduction (NR) to luminance noise and chromatic noise separately. As a result, beautiful images with minimal noise can be reproduced all the way up to ISO 1600 high sensitivity at full resolution for beautiful night shots or dimly lit indoor shots.

Extended Battery Life

The energy-saving Venus Engine image-processing engine and the efficient, rechargeable lithium-ion battery – which has been slimmed down to fit into thinner camera bodies – work together to extend the shooting time of the DMC-FH22/FH20(FS33/FS30). This lets users take approx. 300 shots on a single battery charge*.

* Based on the CIPA standard.

• ID–Security Li-ion Battery
The DMC-FH22/FH20(FS33/FS30) comes with a function to check whether the battery and unit can be safely used together. • Batteries made by other companies which have been certified by Panasonic may be used with these units, but we offer no guarantee as to the quality, performance or safety of such batteries. • Exercise care when purchasing batteries. Many fake or imitation batteries have been found among those sold at unusually low prices and those which customers cannot check for themselves before purchasing. • Please confirm the latest information about batteries on the following website.

Unlimited Consecutive Shooting

The Unlimited*1 Consecutive Shooting function lets you snap off consecutive shots at approx. 1.5 frames per second until the memory card is full. You can take a series of shots, then choose the one you like the best and delete the rest. You can also select High-speed Burst Mode*2 or Flash Burst Mode*2 from Scene Mode.

• The burst speed values given above apply when the shutter speed is 1/60 or faster and when the flash is not activated. The number of recordable images depends on the memory card size and battery life. The burst speed is constant regardless of the transfer speed of the card.

• The number of recordable images depends on the memory card size and battery life.

*1 The consecutive shooting speed varies depending on the memory card. The number of recordable images depends on the memory card size, battery life, image size, and compression.
*2 In 3-megapixel (4:3), 2.5-megapixel (3:2), 2-megapixel (16:9) recording.
