* MOV file, 28.2MB. Viewing with a broadband connection is recommended.
**Quick Time is required to watch this file.
The following four detection functions and Quick AF team up to give you beautiful photos every time in iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode.

Shake Detection-Advanced MEGA O.I.S.
The MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) compensates for the blurring caused by hand-shake. It is now featured on the entire LUMIX range, and is highly popular with users around the world. Even slight hand-shake movement is accurately detected by a sampling frequency of 4,000 times per second, and compensated to produce sharp, clear images. And, it can even detect and separate hand-shake from other types of camera movement to raise both the detection precision and corrective effect. It also works for macro shots, which are especially susceptible to hand-shake, and lets you shoot in dimly lit rooms or evening illumination, without a flash, to preserve the mood. The new Venus Engine IV controls the shifting of the blur-stopping lens with even greater precision to further increase the detection accuracy and correction effect of MEGA O.I.S. In short, it lets anybody take beautiful, blur-free shots with ease.
* MEGA O.I.S. is automatically turned on in iA Mode and can be turned on or off in Normal Picture Mode or some Scene Modes.

Motion Detection - Advanced Intelligent ISO Control

The Intelligent ISO Control function, made possible by the Venus Engine IV, detects subject movement and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the movement and light conditions. When it detects subject motion, it automatically raises the ISO setting and increases the shutter speed to prevent motion blur. On the other hand, when the subject is still and no movement is detected, it takes beautifully natural photos with a low ISO setting. The new Venus Engine IV expands the detectable range to further increase the detection accuracy and correction effect.
The ISO sensitivity raises up to ISO 800 in iA(Intelligent Auto) mode while you can set its limit to ISO400, ISO 800 or ISO 1600 in Normal Picture mode. Intelligent ISO Control gives you stunning images with ease because there is no need for complicated settings.

*When ISO in AUTO is used, motion detection is not performed and the brightness is detected to automatically raise the sensitivity to a maximum of ISO 400.
Face Detection - Face Detection AF/AE

* Face Detection function is automatically turned on in iA Mode and can be turned on or off in Normal Picture Mode or some Scene Modes.
The Face Detection function in the DMC-FS5/FS3 detects faces for up to 15 people in the frame and simultaneously and automatically optimizes the focus and exposure settings. It prevents the blurry faces that happen when the camera focuses on an item in front of or behind the subject, and keeps faces from appearing dark when shooting indoors or against the light source. The DMC-FS5/FS3 does all of this automatically. Once the camera detects a face, Face Tracking follows it even when the subject moves around. This makes it easy to capture the person's face quickly if he or she is moving.

Scene Detection - Intelligent Scene Selector
When the camera's in iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, the Intelligent Scene Selector automatically sets the scene mode to either Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait or Night Scenery*. The camera judges it from the various detection results such as focusing distance, inclusion of human face and brightness level of the circumstance.** You are free from annoying settings every time scene changes when taking pictures with these most frequently used scene modes to get beautiful results even before you know it.

* In iA mode, Night Portrait is not identified when the flash is turned off, and Night Scenery is not identified when the flash is set to Auto.
** With some subject and shooting conditions, it is just not possible to judge the best shooting details. When this happens, it is recommended that you shoot with the Scene Mode that best suits your purpose.
Quick AF

The DMC-FS5/FS3 also features Quick AF*. Ordinary AF is activated when the shutter button is pressed half-way, while Quick AF starts operating as soon as the camera is pointed toward a subject. This dramatically reduces the shutter delay time and lets you take pictures quickly. Its super-fast focus is ideal for capturing quick photos of active children and pets.
By setting the camera to Quick AF, pictures of sudden shooting opportunities won't be out of focus or blurry.
* Quick AF is automatically turned on in iA Mode and can be turned on or off in Normal Picture Mode.
** The focus speed may be slower in dark surroundings.
*Availability of models and colors may differ depending on the country.
*Check the website of the Panasonic sales company in your country or region for details on the LUMIX models, colors, and optional accessories that are available in your market.
