Enjoy a Wonderful Wide-Angle World

The DMC-FS5 is equipped with a 4x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 120mm). The Extra Optical Zoom function uses the center part of the CCD to extend this 4x zoom ratio to powerful 7.1x zoom (35mm equivalent: 213mm) at a resolution of 3-megapixel or less. Adding the Extra Optical Zoom to the 4x digital zoom*** extends the total zooming power to a maximum of 28.5x (35mm equivalent: 855.0mm).*

Now, zooming is even easier. Even when the zoom is set to a position lower than 4 x, the first press of the Easy Zoom button immediately gives you the maximum 4x power of the optical zoom. A second press delivers the maximum 7.1 x power of the Extra Optical Zoom.**** This lets you bring your subject right up close, easily and comfortably.
