1920 x 1080 Full-HD Movie
in AVCHD Format

According to the rise of movie recording popularity, digital cameras are now more compatible with it. The DMC-FX700, the top-end model of the FX series, has recording capability of full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 movies in AVCHD format*1 despite its slim, stylish body. The AVCHD format features almost doubling the recording time in HD quality compared with conventional Motion JPEG. In addition, a host of options enhance the usability and fun of recording high quality full-HD movie.
Despite its compact, slim and stylish look, the DMC-FX700 offers versatile ways of recording memories not only in beautiful photo but also in high quality movie with ultimate ease of operation.

Formats to Match Your Needs

AVCHD: Optimal for viewing on a VIERA TV or with a DIGA recorder / player.

Motion JPEG: Optimal for viewing or editing on a computer.

Intelligent Resolution Technology

The image quality is greatly enhanced thanks to the new image processing technology “Intelligent Resolution*2”, incorporated in the Venus Engine for the DMC-FX700. By detecting the signals whether they are at edges of the subject, they compose detailed texture or just a soft gradation first and give appropriate enhancement to the edges and textured areas respectively. Unlike the uniform enhancement of sharpness, the innovative Intelligent Resolution precisely performs optimum signal processing to give a whole image outstandingly natural clearness with fine details. As a result, images are naturally clear and crisp in movie recording as well as photo recording.

Note

* The movie is optimized for web view by file conversion.

Comparison of Recording Length (per a single charge of battery)*3

*1 Full-HD (1,920 × 1,080) movies are output by the image sensor at 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL), and recorded at 60i (NTSC) / 50i (PAL). HD (1,280 × 720) movies are output and recorded by the image sensor at 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL).
*2 The Intelligent Resolution function turns ON in the iA Mode or in some Scene Modes. In other cases, turn ON the Intelligent Resolution from the menu to activate it.
*3 Approx. The length of recording time depends on the capacity of the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card. • For Europe, motion images can be recorded continuously for up to 29 minutes 59 seconds. The maximum continuous recording time (up to 29 minutes 59 seconds) is displayed on the screen. • Use a card with SD Speed Class* with "Class 4" or higher when recording motion images in AVCHD. Also, use a card with SD Speed Class with "Class 6" or higher when recording motion images in Motion JPEG. *SD Speed Class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing.
*4 QuickTime Motion JPEG. Continuous recording exceeding 2GB is not possible when recording Motion JPEG.
*5 These are standard times taken at a temperature of 23°C (73.4°F) and a humidity of 50%RH. The time available for recording varies depending on the environment, the interval between recordings, and the manner of use. Actual recordable time is the time available for recording when repeating actions such as switching the power supply [ON]/[OFF], starting/stopping recording, zoom operation, etc.

High Quality Sound

A stereo microphone, featuring Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator, on the upper body records dynamic, true-to-life stereo audio that brings out the power of your HD movies.

• Dolby and the double-D symbol are trademarks of Dolby Laboratories.

Wind Cut

The Wind Cut function is available to block out most of the noise from background wind. This gives you higher quality sound when taking images on breezy days.

iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode for Movie

The iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode is available in motion image recording. The DMC-FX700 also features the Touch AF Tracking that lets you select the subject by simply touching it on the screen, and track the subject if it moves. 5 detection and correction functions including the Touch AF Tracking are simultaneously activated to optimize the settings, so you can get stunning HD movies every time.

Subject Detection - Touch AF Tracking*1

Touch the screen, and the DMC-FX700 locks on and automatically "tracks" the subject as it moves, keeping on adjusting the focus settings for the best result.

Shake Detection - POWER O.I.S.*1

Gyrosensors detect hand-shaking and the O.I.S. lens shifts to compensate, helping prevent blurring caused by hand-shaking.

Face Detection - Face Detection AF/AE*1

The Face Detection function detects faces anywhere in the frame and automatically chooses the optimal focus and exposure.

Scene Detection - Intelligent Scene Selector*2

The Intelligent Scene Selector senses the ambient conditions and automatically selects any of the Scenery, Portrait, Macro, or Low Light Mode accordingly. You can select the subject by simply touching, too.

Light Detection - Intelligent Exposure*1

By detecting the intensity of the ambient light and adjusting the exposure accordingly, the Intelligent Exposure prevents blown highlights and blocked shadows.

*1 The Touch AF Tracking, POWER O.I.S., Face Detection AF/AE and Intelligent Exposure are automatically turned on in the iA Mode and can be turned on or off in the P/A/S/M Mode or some Scene Modes.
*2 With some subject and shooting conditions, it is just not possible to judge the best shooting details. When this happens, it is recommended that you shoot with the Scene Mode that best suits your purpose.

5x Optical Zoom in Movie Recording

The DMC-FX700 lets you use a 5x zoom for motion images. It takes you right up close to images like animals and sports scenes.

Motion Picture Button

Motion image recording can be started by pressing a dedicated button on the top of the camera — an extremely quick, convenient way to start motion image recording. Most of the camera's settings will be carried over when switched to motion image recording.

* The movie is optimized for web view by file conversion.

Scene Mode for Movie

You are naturally supposed to take the same subject in the same situation when you start recording movie while recording photos. So you do not have to set the Scene Mode again for movie recording once you are in the Scene Mode of photo recording. The result is a beautiful movie best optimized for the scene.

Happy Mode / Color Effect Mode

Motion images can also be recorded in the Color Effect Mode. You get unique expressions by matching the colors to your subject and surroundings. In the iA Mode, you can use the Happy Mode to record even brighter colors.

Video Divide

You can divide a single video into two parts using only the camera. This is handy for compiling memorable scenes, and deleting unwanted scenes to free up space on your memory card while you are traveling.

Seamless Slideshows with Photos and Movies

The DMC-FX700 has many slideshow options for both photos and movies. They help you to recollect memorable moments in seamless, chronological order. You can also select and play only photos, only movies, or only AVCHD movies. Choose whichever slideshow you want.

Cut Animation

You can cut out a clear still image from a movie in the camera thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology.

VIERA Link / HDMI Compatibility

Just connect the DMC-FX700 to an HDTV and you're ready to view your photos and movies in beautiful high-definition. Motion images recorded in AVCHD on SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards are easy to view on a Panasonic VIERA TV. Simply insert the card into the VIERA Image Viewer (SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot) on a VIERA TV or DIGA recorder / player to playback your content. Alternatively, you can use an optional mini HDMI cable to output the motion images you took from the DMC-FX700 directly to the TV for VIERA Link. You can take maximum advantage of LUMIX's playback functions including the slideshow in which both photos and movies are integrated in the timeline, Face Recognition playback or calendar display and so on. All control is possible using only the TV's remote control.

• The HDMI output function requires the optional RP-CDHM15/CDHM30 mini HDMI cable. The output resolution of the DMC-FX700 can be selected as 1,080i, 720p or 480p (576p in PAL system). Please confirm that the TV you are connecting to has an HDMI input terminal compatible with the selected signal. Depending on the cable used, some functions may not be possible. Panasonic HDMI cables are highly recommended.

Note

Note

• Motion images and images with audio taken with the DMC-FX700 may not always be able to be played back with cameras by other manufacturers. Playback may also not be possible with certain Panasonic digital cameras (LUMIX) launched before December 2008, and some cameras launched in 2009 (FS, LS Series). • AVCHD Lite motion images recorded with the image quality set to SH/H/L mode (1,280 × 720) cannot be played on AVCHD-compatible digital video cameras. • AVCHD motion images recorded with AVCHD-compatible digital video cameras cannot be played on the DMC- FX700. • AVCHD motion images recorded onto an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card or a DVD disc cannot be played on a device that does not support the AVCHD standard. • SDHC Memory Cards and SDXC Memory Cards can be used only in equipment that is compatible with their respective formats. • If the computer being used does not support SDXC Memory Cards, a message prompting you to format may appear. (Doing so will cause recorded images to be erased so do not choose to format.) If the card is not recognized, please refer to the support site.
