3.0-inch Free-angle LCD with High 460,000-dot Resolution
The DMC-FZ100 has a 3.0-inch 3:2 460,000-dot free-angle LCD that rotates 180° to the side and tilts 270° up and down, and gives you an approx. 100% field of view. This is a highly practical feature for high-angle shots, like when you need to shoot over the heads of people at a parade, and enables accurate, dynamic framing for artistic low-angle shots, like when shooting at nearly ground level. It's extremely convenient when shooting with a tripod too.

In addition, the wide-viewing angle of the LCD on the DMC-FZ100 is handy both for shooting and for viewing the results together with family and friends. Also, LUMIX's acclaimed Intelligent LCD function automatically adjusts the brightness in 11 steps according to the shooting conditions. At the highest of these 11 steps, the LCD backlight becomes approx. 1.4 times brighter than normal. In addition, the AR (anti-reflective) coating LCD minimizes glare and provides clear images, for high visibility even in outdoor brightness. This LCD provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations, from nighttime to bright daylight scenes.
iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode
In the iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots and capture moments. Just press, aim and shoot. Detection and correction functions work appropriately just by entering the iA Mode for you to take beautiful photos and movies with maximum ease. In addition, the Intelligent Resolution technology is always activated in the iA Mode, which results in the clearer and higher image quality in every photo and movie with extended zoom range equivalent to 32x by the Intelligent Zoom.

The Motion Deblur Mode* has been newly added to prevent blurring with even greater power. The new mode integrates the Intelligent ISO Control, which automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed according to the subject's movement, and the advanced contrast control system of Intelligent Exposure, which also optimizes the exposure to prevent over/under-exposed parts in the image. The camera judges the appropriate shutter speed to suppress motion blur according to the subject's movement. The shutter speed rises as high as possible activating the high sensitivity recording by pixel mixed readout method.
The camera determines the optimal settings, so anyone can easily capture crisp, clear photos - without blurring.
* The picture size may be reduced.
The Motion Deblur Mode must be turned ON in the menu prior to use.

Press the “MENU” button, and then set the “MOTION DEBLUR” to ON to activate the mode. The icon will vibrate when a moving subject is detected.

![]()
Gyrosensors detect hand-shaking and the O.I.S. lens shifts to compensate, helping prevent blurring caused by hand-shaking.

The Face Recognition function remembers faces that have been registered in the camera and provides the faces with optimal focus and exposure.

![]()
The Face Detection function detects faces anywhere in the frame and automatically chooses the optimal focus and exposure. The Face Detection also features the Digital Red-eye Correction (Red-eye Removal).

![]()
Once you focus on your subject, the AF Tracking automatically and continuously tracks it and keeps it in focus and proper exposure.

![]()
The Intelligent ISO Control function detects subject movement and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the movement and light conditions.

![]()
The Intelligent Scene Selector senses the ambient conditions and automatically selects any of the Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait*5, Night Scenery or Sunset Mode accordingly.

![]()
The Happy Mode optimizes color, saturation and brightness to make images more vivid and true to the color of the scene you remember.

![]()
The Intelligent Exposure corrects the brightness in parts of the image that are too dark due to insufficient lighting, backlighting or use of the flash. This produces natural images that are close to the way they actually look to the human eye.
*1 The POWER O.I.S., Face Detection AF/AE, and Intelligent Exposure are automatically turned on in the iA Mode and can be turned on or off in the P/A/S/M Mode or some Scene Modes.
*2 Turn the Face Recognition ON and register the person with full-face portrait on the shooting menu in advance.
Recognition performance varies greatly depending on shooting conditions, i.e., according to factors such as angles, facial expression and lighting, so operation under all conditions cannot be guaranteed. Because the camera searches for faces that are similar to registered faces, there are cases where the faces are not correctly recognized when the registered image and the shooting image varies much. When facial characteristics are similar, particularly between parents and their children or brothers and sisters, the camera may not distinguish the faces.
*3 The Intelligent ISO Control is automatically turned on in the iA Mode and can be turned on or off in the P/A Mode or some Scene Modes.
*4 With some subject and shooting conditions, it is just not possible to judge the best shooting details. When this happens, it is recommended that you shoot with the Scene Mode that best suits your purpose.
*5 In the iA Mode, the Night Portrait is not identified when the flash is turned off.
Advanced Scene Mode

The Advanced Scene Mode function lets you quickly set the frequently used Portrait, Scenery, Sports, Close-up, or Night Portrait Modes with the mode dial. And each of these modes can be fine-tuned to match the shooting situation. The Creative Mode also lets you adjust the aperture or shutter speed, for easy manual control. When pressing the Motion Picture button, the optimal Movie Scene Mode is automatically selected*.
* Portrait, Soft Skin, Scenery, Low Light, Macro, Food.

Scene Mode for Both Photos and Movies

Switching from still-image to movie shooting is seamless because the optimal Movie Scene Mode is automatically selected. The versatile Scene Mode range is a unique LUMIX feature that handles just about any situation and subject type. By simply selecting a Scene Mode, the camera makes the optimal settings for you automatically, so anybody can take superb photos and movies with ease.

Scene Modes for Movies

High Speed Movie Mode
This mode lets you record high-speed movies at 220 frames per second in QVGA size. That means you can capture the moment the soccer ball finds the net. Or the moment that a tennis racket strikes the ball. You can even capture scenes that cannot be seen with the naked eyes, and play them back in dramatic slow motion.
Panorama Assist Mode (Photo)

After the first shot

Screen for taking the second shot
This is a handy function for aligning panorama photos using the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.2 HD Edition. The afterimage of each previous shot is displayed, so you can use it to precisely line up the second and third shots.
A/S/M Mode
Manual functions are the key to taking highly controlled and distinctive photos. Aperture-priority Mode lets you open the aperture up wide for stunning portraits with softly focused backgrounds. Shutter-priority Mode makes it possible to express the dynamic power of a flowing stream by slowing down the shutter speed. And Manual Exposure Mode gives you total control of special shots, allowing you to achieve a higher level of photographic beauty.
Aperture-priority Mode

F5.2
You can set the aperture between F2.8-8.0 (Wide) and F5.2-8.0 (Tele) to control the depth of field.

Shutter-priority Mode

1/5 sec
Adjust the shutter speed from 8 to 1/2,000 of a second. Fast shutter speeds can be used to freeze moving subjects, and slow shutter speeds can create a motion blur that exaggerates the feeling of movement.
Manual Exposure Mode

In this mode you can set both the aperture and shutter speed, to take beautiful, artistic photos. The slowest shutter speed in Manual Exposure Mode is 60 sec. You can enjoy a wide range of shooting possibilities by combining a shutter speed from 1/2,000 to 60 sec with an F stop from F2.8-8.0 (Wide) to F5.2-8.0 (Tele). Noise reduction also improves images taken at slow shutter speeds.

Select from 4 Aspect Ratios
In addition to 4:3, 3:2*1, and 16:9*2, you can now shoot with a 1:1*3 aspect ratio. This unique square frame adds to your image expression possibilities. The 16:9 ratio produces images that match the aspect ratio of an HDTV screen. Being able to match the aspect ratio to your subject and shooting intent gives you even greater control.
