10.1-megapixel MOS Sensor

The 1/1.7-inch 10.1-megapixel*1 MOS Sensor that features improvement in S/N ratio by 1.5 dB compared with the predecessor DMC-LX5*2. The result is a high resolution image with stunning clarity not only in high sensitivity recording but also in low ISO setting reproducing rich gradation with the exquisitely wide dynamic range even when the situation is highly contrasted.

Venus Engine

The Venus Engine features exceptionally advanced signal processing capabilities in both photo and video recording. The high speed digital signal output technology is integrated to realize high speed consecutive shooting and to record full HD 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) smooth video.

Intelligent NR System

The excellent S/N ratio of the MOS sensor and the Intelligent Noise Reduction system in the Venus Engine make both photos and videos shot at any sensitivity from low to high and boast outstanding clearness.

Resolution is prioritized at edge area.

Noise reduction is prioritized in soft gradation area.

Multi-process NR System

The Multi-process Noise Reduction applies optimum noise reduction according to the brightness of the part of the image. Images recorded in low-lit situations are now dramatically clear.

High frequency noise that occurs in the dark part is suppressed.

Low frequency noise in the light part is suppressed.

*1 Camera effective pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio. Gross sensor resolution is total 12.8-megapixel.
*2 Panasonic in-house comparison with DMC-LX5.

Multiple Aspect Ratios

The DMC-LX7 features a multiple aspect ratio image recording using 10.1-megapixel of the total 12.8-megapixel MOS sensor. The Multi-aspect ratio function in LUMIX is "Multi-aspect" in a true sense because it enables recording images in 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9 aspect ratios with the same angle of view.

Aspect Bracket

The Aspect Bracket function lets the camera take an image in all aspect ratios simultaneously, so you can choose the best one after shooting.

Aperture Ring

The aspect can be changed directly with the aspect switch on the lens barrel among 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1.

Intelligent HDR

The DMC-LX7 integrates Intelligent HDR (High Dynamic Range) in the iA Mode. Several still pictures consecutively shot at different exposure levels are overlaid to produce a single composite picture without whiteout (over-exposure) or blackout (under-exposure).
The HDR Mode is also available in the Scene Mode.

This function is also available.

Intelligent D-range Control: This function offers natural looking by optimizing the exposure for each part of an image, preventing blocked shadows and blown highlights and helping ensure that gradation and details are reproduced beautifully.

Intelligent Resolution Technology[Open New Window]: Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, the innovative technology Intelligent Resolution precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way according to the area. As a result, images are naturally clear and crisp.
