Venus Engine IV
![]()

Panasonic's new image-processing engine, Venus Engine IV, uses advanced signal processing to give you even higher-quality images. The new engine also offers a number of other improvements, including more accurate detection and better correction for its MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) and Intelligent ISO Control functions. Venus Engine IV responds quickly and saves power even with full 9.1-megapixel resolution. The new engine strongly supports today's new camera and imaging technologies, and works with the large, 1/2.33-inch high-resolution CCD to open up possibilities for even better photos.
Higher Image Quality with Advanced Signal Processing
Luminance noise and chromatic noise are reduced separately in the Venus Engine III, before and after signal processing. Both fine and coarse noise are minimized to produce beautiful, clear pictures from low to high ISO settings. The Venus Engine IV in the DMC-TZ50 further raises image quality by refining this signal processing process by adding two more circuits. One is for separating the noise two-dimensionally into high-frequency and low-frequency noises. The circuits effectively reduce only the low-frequency noise which turns out to be noticeable as chromatic noise because resolution decreases if the high-frequency noise is reduced as well. In addition, preserving the color-changing points at the color borders 10 times more minutely prevents the color bleeding that often happens with noise reduction. As a result, beautiful images with minimal noise can be reproduced all the way up to ISO 1600 high sensitivity at full 9.1-megapixel resolution while color noise is less noticeable in shadows and other dark areas even when shooting with low sensitivity.

High Speed Response
The DMC-TZ50 slashes the release time lag to around 0.008 second minimum. The shutter interval is also shortened to around 0.9 second minimum*. This makes DMC-TZ50 an extremely quick, responsive camera. It lets you capture images comfortably even at a moment's notice and is a pleasure to use.
* Not including the time for AF.
Full Resolution MEGA Burst Consecutive Shooting
Unlimited* Consecutive Shooting and High-speed Burst Mode**
In spite of its high resolution, the DMC-TZ50 lets you snap off consecutive shooting at approx. 2.5 frames per second*** with full resolution. By using the Scene Mode's High-speed Burst Mode, you can enjoy extremely fast consecutive shooting of up to approx. 6 frames per second** The Unlimited* Consecutive Shooting function lets you keep on shooting until the memory card is full. You can take a series of shots, then choose the one you like best and delete the rest.
* The consecutive shooting speed varies depending on the memory card. The number of recordable picture depends on the memory card size, battery life, picture size, and compression.
** In 2-megapixel (4:3), 2.5-megapixel (3:2), 2-megapixel (16:9) recording.
*** Maximum of 5 images in Standard mode and 3 images in Fine mode.
Low Energy Consumption
The energy-saving Venus Engine IV image-processing engine and our efficient, rechargeable lithium-ion battery work together to extend the shooting time of the DMC-TZ50, making it possible to take around 300 shots on a single battery charge* despite the large, bright and high resolution LCD.
*Based on the CIPA standard.
*The DMC-TZ50 is available in the U.S. and Japan.
Outside of the U.S., the DMC-TZ50 is sold with a different Wi-Fi carrier and a different photo sharing service.
