The new DMC-XS1 features a stylish flat body profile with an eye-catching two-colored design, and the world’s slimmest body profile thanks to the Panasonic’s advanced optical design and development technology*. Photo and video data are recorded in ultra-small microSD / SDHC Memory Card, which also has high acceptability of major smartphones.

The DMC-XS1 features a 24mm ultra wide-angle lens* with 5x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 24-120mm) in an ultra-slim body. The 24mm ultra wide-angle lens gives you a wider range of composition possibilities with approx. 213% larger viewing space compared to that of 35mm camera.

The Intelligent Zoom is an extensive zoom function using digital zoom, however, you can even draw the subject closer than the original optical zoom with minimum deterioration of image quality. This means the 5x optical can virtually extend to 8x equivalent.
The MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) compensates for the blurring caused by hand-shake. Apart from the digital image correction, MEGA O.I.S. corrects a jolt of light axis by shifting the O.I.S. lens unit to offset it. Thus the image is not affected digitally nor deteriorated at all.

The Sonic Speed AF gives the DMC-XS1 super high speed response that helps to catch even the most fleeting photo opportunities.
The DMC-XS1 can record HD video in Motion JPEG format (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps). Recording motion image can be started with a press of an independent motion picture button, which is extremely convenient for you to switch photo / video shooting instantly.
