HD Movie in AVCHD Lite Featuring 12x Optical Zoom

HD Movie in AVCHD Lite

In addition to Motion JPEG images, the DMC-ZS7(TZ10) can record high-definition motion images in AVCHD Lite. It features almost double the recording time in HD quality compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format. Also, with the DMC-ZS7(TZ10), it is possible to use the GPS (Global Positioning System) function to record data on the shooting location. You can view images for each geographical location by using the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.1 HD Edition to manage the images by date and location*1.

Intelligent Resolution TechnologyNEW

The image quality is greatly enhanced thanks to the new image processing technology “Intelligent Resolution*2”, incorporated in the Venus Engine for the DMC-ZS7(TZ10). By detecting the signals whether they are at edges of the subject, they compose detailed texture or just a soft gradation first and give appropriate enhancement to the edges and textured areas respectively. Unlike the uniform enhancement of sharpness, the innovative Intelligent Resolution precisely performs optimum signal processing to give a whole image outstandingly natural clearness with fine details. As a result, images are naturally clear and crisp in movie recording as well as photo recording.

* The movie is optimized for web view by file conversion.

*2 The Intelligent Resolution function turns ON in the iA Mode or in some Scene Modes.
In other cases, turn ON the Intelligent Resolution from the menu to activate it.
*3 Approx. Maximum recording time, HD movie recording at 720P. The length of recording time depends on the capacity of the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card.
*4 QuickTime Motion JPEG. Continuous recording exceeding 2GB is not possible when recording Motion JPEG.
*5 These are standard times taken at a temperature of 23°C(73.4°F) and a humidity of 50%RH.
The time available for recording varies depending on the environment, the interval between recordings, and the manner of use.
Actual recordable time is the time available for recording when repeating actions such as switching the power supply [ON]/[OFF], starting/stopping recording, zoom operation, etc.

• For Europe, motion images can be recorded continuously for up to 29 minutes 59 seconds. The maximum continuous recording time (up to 29 minutes 59 seconds) is displayed on the screen. • Use a card with SD Speed Class* with “Class4” or higher when recording motion images in AVCHD Lite and with “Class 6” or higher when recording motion images in Motion JPEG. * SD speed class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing. • Some lens movement sounds may be recorded. • Motion images and images with audio taken with the DMC-ZS7(TZ10) may not always be able to be played back with cameras by other manufacturers. Playback may also not be possible with certain Panasonic digital cameras (LUMIX) launched before December 2008, and some cameras launched in 2009 (FS, LS Series). • AVCHD Lite motion images recorded onto an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card or a DVD disc cannot be played on a device that does not support the AVCHD standard. • SDHC Memory Cards and SDXC Memory Cards can be used only in equipment that is compatible with their respective formats. • If the computer being used does not support SDXC Memory Cards, a message prompting you to format may appear. (Doing so will cause recorded images to be erased so do not choose to format.) If the card is not recognized, please refer to the below support site.

Powerful 12x Optical Zoom

The addition of AVCHD Lite HD movie recording doubles the appeal of the DMC-ZS7(TZ10). This single camera lets you capture virtually all images in their natural beauty. It gives you both motion and still images, and ranges from 25mm ultra wide-angle* shots of sweeping landscapes to powerful 12x optical zoom shots (35mm camera equivalent: 300mm) that pull distant subjects right up close. The mechanism design minimizes the noise of auto focusing or zooming.

* Converted to standard 35mm camera equivalent, at the maximum wide position.

High Quality Sound

A stereo microphone, featuring Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator, on the upper body records dynamic, true-to-life stereo audio that brings out the power of your HD movies.

• Dolby and the double-D symbol are trademarks of Dolby Laboratories.

Wind Cut

A Wind Cut function is available to block out most of the noise from background wind. This gives you higher quality sound when taking images on breezy days.

Motion Picture Button

Motion image recording can be started by pressing a dedicated button on the camera's back panel — an extremely quick, convenient way to start motion image recording. Most of the camera's settings will be carried over when switched to motion image recording.

iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode for Movie

The iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode is also available in motion image recording. The iA Mode automatically and simultaneously activates 4 advanced detection functions: The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) to detect hand-shake, the Face Detection AF/AE to detect faces in the frame, the Intelligent Scene Selector to detect scene conditions, and the Intelligent Exposure to detect the ambient light. Since the camera automatically optimizes the settings, it lets you shoot stunning HD movies every time.

POWER O.I.S. - Shake Detection *1

Gyrosensors detect hand-shaking and the O.I.S. lens shifts to compensate, helping to prevent blurring caused by hand-shaking.

Face Detection AF/AE - Face Detection *1

The Face Detection function detects faces anywhere in the frame and automatically chooses the optimal focus and exposure.

Intelligent Scene Selector - Scene Detection *2

The Intelligent Scene Selector senses the ambient conditions and automatically selects any of the Scenery, Portrait, Macro, or Low Light Mode accordingly.

Intelligent Exposure - Light Detection *1

By detecting the intensity of the ambient light and adjusting the exposure accordingly, the Intelligent Exposure prevents blown highlights and blocked shadows.

*1 POWER O.I.S., Face Detection AF/AE and Intelligent Exposure are automatically turned on in the iA Mode and can be turned on or off in P/A/S/M Modes or some Scene Modes.
*2 With some subject and shooting conditions, it is just not possible to judge the best shooting details. When this happens, it is recommended that you shoot with the Scene Mode that best suits your purpose.

Scene Mode for Movie

You are naturally supposed to take the same subject in the same situation when you start recording movie while recording photos. So you do not have to set the Scene Mode again for movie recording once you are in the Scene Mode of photo recording. The result is a beautiful movie best optimized for the scene.

Color Mode

Motion images can also be recorded in the Color Mode. You get unique expressions by matching the colors to your subject and surroundings. In the iA Mode, you can use the Happy Mode to record even brighter colors.

Video Divide

You can divide a single video into two parts using only the camera. This is handy for compiling memorable scenes, and deleting unwanted scenes to free up space on your memory card while you are traveling.

Seamless Slideshows
with Still and Motion Images

Now there are more slideshow options. And they can be used with both still and motion images, for recollecting memorable moments in seamless, chronological order. You can also select and play only still images, only motion images, or only AVCHD Lite motion images. Choose whichever slideshow you like the best.

Cut Animation

You can cut out a clear still image from a movie in the camera thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology.

VIERA Link / HDMI Compatibility

Just connect the DMC-ZS7(TZ10) to an HDTV and you're ready to view your movies and photos in beautiful high-definition. Motion images recorded in AVCHD Lite on SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards are easy to view on a Panasonic VIERA. Simply insert the card into the VIERA Image Viewer (SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot) on a VIERA TV or DIGA Blu-ray Disc™ Player to playback your content. Alternatively, you can use an optional mini HDMI cable to output the motion images you took from the DMC-ZS7(TZ10) directly to the TV for VIERA Link. You can take maximum advantage of LUMIX's playback functions including the slideshow in which both motion and still images are integrated in the timeline, Face Recognition playback or calendar display and so on. All control is possible using only the TV's remote control.

(Doing so will cause recorded images to be erased so do not choose to format.) If the card is not recognized, please refer to the support site.
