Introduction PANASONIC and OUR PLACE – Photographing and Protecting the World's Heritage

OUR PLACE – the world’s heritage, is a major international project which, in partnership with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, is creating the world’s first official World Heritage Photographic data base. We are dedicated to documenting photographically the planets most significant and important locations – both natural and cultural.

Panasonic have joined us on this important quest and is the project’s founding sponsor. Panasonic have demonstrated by their commitment to the OUR PLACE Project, that they recognise the importance of preserving the world’s heritage for the benefit of future generations.

We at OUR PLACE believe if people are made aware of the world’s heritage, then they will care for the world’s heritage. Photography, which speaks to its viewers across all cultural and national boundaries, is the ideal media to spread this message of our shared heritage to a wide global audience.

The OUR PLACE Project needs great photography and committed photographers, and they in turn need reliable and practical cameras – and that is why we shoot all our images on the LUMIX range of cameras.

The OUR PLACE team of International photographers have already photographed in more than 70 different countries – from the Deserts of the Arabian Peninsula to the Tropical Rain Forests of Australia; from the Cities of Europe to the remote Islands of the sub Antarctic. We have photographed World Heritage sites as well known as the Pyramids of Egypt, to those relatively unknown such as the Koguryo Tombs in North Korea. Our photographers have worked in all conditions and situations, often with extreme time pressures and after long and difficult journeys into the location.

All these images have been taken on Panasonic LUMIX cameras, including the recently released G Series, an outstanding range of small and robust Digital SLRs. All the LUMIX cameras we have used have preformed to the high professional standards demanded by our team.

We at OUR PLACE are photographing the world’s most significant places. We demand the best quality from our photographers and our equipment.

Panasonic, with their commitment to the world’s heritage, and their superb range of LUMIX cameras, are an ideal partner for this prestigious project.
