Panasonic is proud to introduce the LUMIX DMC-ZS20(TZ30) as the newest member of its acclaimed ZS(TZ) series that has won worldwide popularity for versatile lens from ultra wide-angle to telephoto and recording capability of photo and video packed in a compact body. Newly developed high quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens extends its powerful optical zoom to 20x which fits in an outstandingly compact body. The 20x optical zoom increases its power to 40x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function with minimum deterioration of image quality thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology. Together with 24mm ultra wide-angle of view, DMC-ZS20(TZ30) covers even wider shooting situations. The lens system is totally redesigned with new mechanical structure, optical system combining advanced technology such as higher zoom ratio and Nano Surface Coating while achieving further downsizing to be the world’s slimmest in class.*

Newly developed 14.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor is adopted and the advanced image processor Venus Engine feature high speed, high sensitivity image recording to realize 1,920 x 1,080 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) astonishingly smooth full-HD video recording in AVCHD Progressive format and high speed burst shooting at 10 fps in high picture quality. It also contributes to the high speed burst shooting and approx. 0.1 sec of Light Speed AF to catch the most fleeting shooting opportunities.

The built-in GPS (Global Positioning System) function is upgraded for DMC-ZS20(TZ30) by combining map data which can be installed from a bundled DVD.

A variety of special effects that add fun to shooting experience are newly integrated – Creative Control mode including Miniature Effect, Panorama Shot, Creative Retouch and Auto Retouch.

Also, iA (Intelligent Auto) mode lets users leave everything to the camera to take beautiful images with its new HDR (High Dynamic Range) together with POWER O.I.S. with Active Mode, AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Handheld Nightshot, Motion Deblur mode, Intelligent Burst mode and Intelligent Exposure. Once you enter the iA mode, these multi-capable functions happen automatically, so that you can shoot without the bother of adjusting settings every time conditions change.

The 3.0-inch large 460,000-dot Smart Touch LCD allows Touch AF, Touch Zoom or Touch Shutter during recording and various playback functions even for scrolling the map with high visibility. Both DMC-ZS20(TZ30) newly comply with USB power charging in addition to the conventional AC power supply.

With a host of optical / digital technologies packed in a slim, pocket-sized body, the ultimately versatile DMC-ZS20(TZ30) serves as your irreplaceable partner to record your life log with high quality photo and video.

1. Powerful 20x Optical Zoom LEICA DC Lens with 24mm Ultra Wide Angle
Featuring Nano Surface Coating Fitting in Slim, Compact Body

The advanced lens system of LUMIX ZS(TZ) series that achieves both high picture quality and small size is redesigned to further extend its powerful zoom to 20x (35mm camera equivalent: 24-480mm). Comprising 12 elements in 10 groups including 3 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces and 2 ED lenses, adoption of ultra thin lens for its new structure optical system makes the unit’s overall length short to fit in the slim body despite its versatile zoom range from 24mm ultra wide angle to 20x telephoto. Thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the DMC-ZS20(TZ30) which extends the zoom ratio by approx. 2x with minimum deterioration of picture quality even combining the digital zoom. This means the 20x optical can virtually extend to 40x equivalent. The Panasonic’s black box technology Nano Surface Coating boasts extremely low reflectance ratio and it is applied to DMC-ZS20(TZ30) for exceptional optical performance with stunning clarity by minimizing flare and ghost.

For more effective countermeasure against hand-shake which tends to occur in shooting with high zoom, POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) with Active Mode is equipped with DMC-ZS20(TZ30) to powerfully suppress blur in both photo and video recording.

2. New 14.1-Megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor and
Venus Engine for High Speed, High Sensitivity Image Recording

The 14.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor is newly developed for DMC-ZS20(TZ30) for even higher image quality. The new High Sensitivity MOS sensor boasts better S/N ratio compared with the 14.1-megapixel MOS sensor in the DMC-ZS10(TZ20). Together with the performance of Venus Engine, quality of image shot in low-lit situations is dramatically improved reducing the noise to its half level*.

The high speed digital signal output technology is integrated to realize high speed consecutive shooting and full-HD video recording. It lets the DMC-ZS20(TZ30) shoot 10 fps in 14-megapixel full resolution with mechanical shutter and 5 fps with continuous AF. It also enables the camera to record full-HD 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) smooth video. In addition, the high speed video at 220 fps in QVGA size is another advantage of the sensor which captures the motion of a subject. The frame rate, AF setting and the recording resolution can be easily selected according to the movement of the subject. It also contributes to the high speed burst shooting and approx. 0.1 sec of Light Speed AF to catch the most fleeting shooting opportunities.

3. The 1,920 x 1,080 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) Full-HD Video Recording
in the AVCHD Progressive Format and MP4*

Now the DMC-ZS20(TZ30) can record high-resolution full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) videos in AVCHD Progressive (MPEG-4 / H.264) format. Upgrading the full HD recording capability from interlaced to progressive, subjects with fast motion or fine details are reproduced even more clearly.
The powerful 20x optical zoom with 2-step Zoom function is available in video recording. The popular iA (Intelligent Auto) assists easy video recording without needing a special technique. The DMC-ZS20(TZ30) also comply with 30p (NTSC) 25p (PAL) in MP4 format which has high compatibility with PCs or smartphones for editing or sharing the videos.

Incorporating a stereo zoom microphone, the videos also come with the high-quality stereo sound of Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator, to offer highly realistic sound to the video. Mechanical noise caused by a zooming operation is suppressed to improve the clearness. Also, the Auto Wind Cut function is also available to block out most of the noise from background wind automatically making the human voice to stand out.

Photos or videos recorded in AVCHD on SD Memory Cards are easy to view on a Panasonic VIERA TV. Simply insert the card into the VIERA Image Viewer (SD Memory Card slot) on VIERA TV or Blu-ray Disc Player / Recorder to playback your contents. Alternatively, you can use an optional mini HDMI cable to output the AVCHD Progressive video from the DMC-ZS20(TZ30) directly to the TV for VIERA Link. In addition, with the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 Premium Edition, it is easy to view and edit your recorded contents. You may also choose to upload your videos to YouTube™ or burn them to a BD/DVD disc for archiving.

4. Advanced GPS System with World Map Information

The ZS(TZ) series camera is acclaimed as an excellent travel companion because of a wide shooting range, hybrid recording capability of high quality photo and video and a host of travel-friendly functions represented by the built-in GPS system. With the new DMC-ZS20(TZ30), user can copy the map data of designated city to an SDXC/SDHC/SD Memory Card out of a bundled map DVD which comprehends detailed map of approx. 90 countries worldwide on a scale of 1/25,000 or more precise.

With DMC-ZS20(TZ30), users can get geographic information even in unfamiliar places to know where they are and what landmarks are located nearby. The geo-tagged images are automatically sorted and those can be played back along the map so that users can trace the memory of travelling along their footprints scrolling the map in the camera. LUMIX’s GPS function is a step above those only record latitude and longitude in the EXIF data. DMC-ZS20(TZ30) shows the name of the Country/Region, State/Prov./County, County/Township, City/Town/Village and Landmark. The area information covers 203 countries or regions for global use. Plus, more than 1,000,000 of landmark information covers 82 countries or regions.

You can also refer to the location names of the recorded image or even search images by the location names via the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 Premium Edition. These images with GPS information can also be pinpointed on the internet maps and be shared with family or friends via social networking services. Internal clock of the camera is automatically adjusted to the local time of the place where the camera is, so you do not have to set the clock manually whether you go abroad or come back home.

5. Various Special Effects and iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode and for More Ease and Fun

DMC-ZS20(TZ30) comes not only with strong basic performance but also with a variety of shooting options to enhance ease and fun.

The Creative Control mode offers a selection of artistic filter effects when recording images; Expressive, Retro, High Dynamic, Sepia, Dynamic Monochrome, High Key, Low Key, Miniature Effect, Toy Effect and Soft Focus. Miniature Effect mode in which the peripherals are defocused while saturation and contrast is emphasized to look the picture like a diorama. The video recorded in this mode is played back in 10x fast-forwarding making it more comical to watch*. Panorama makes it is possible to shoot a 360-degree horizontal / vertical panoramic image with consequent shots taken by overlaying the previous picture.

Furthermore, DMC-ZS20(TZ30) newly offers Creative Retouch that comprehends 6 attractive filters – Toy Effect, Soft Focus, Dynamic Monochrome, Expressive, High Key and Retro – to look the picture you shot even more artistic. DMC-ZS20(TZ30) also comes with Auto Retouch function that adjusts contrast and brightness to give different impression to the photo with just a press of a button. Appropriate retouch is automatically applied depending on the image – if the image was shot too dark, it can be clear and bright to look it nicer with this function.

Panasonic incorporated the Intelligent Auto mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of misshots. DMC-ZS20(TZ30) newly integrates HDR (High Dynamic Range) in addition to AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Handheld Nightshot, Motion Deblur mode, Intelligent Burst mode and Intelligent Exposure. The user can activate all of these useful, convenient shooting-assist functions by just activating an iA mode.

The DMC-ZS15(TZ25) boasts 24mm ultra wide angle 16x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens that fits in a slim, pocket-sized profile. The 16x optical zoom increases its power to 32x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function with minimum deterioration of image quality thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology. Together with 24mm ultra wide-angle of view, DMC-ZS15(TZ25) covers even wider shooting situations with its outstanding versatility and high mobility. For more effective countermeasure against hand-shake which tends to occur in shooting with high zoom, POWER O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) with Active Mode is equipped with DMC-ZS20(TZ30) to powerfully suppress blur in both photo and video recording.

The combination of the 12.1-megapixel MOS sensor and the Venus Engine empowers the camera with high performance image recording capability in both sensitivity and speed. The Lens, the sensor and the engine - all plays a significant part in improvement of image quality especially those shot in low light situations. It also contributes to the high speed burst shooting at 10 fps and approx. 0.1 sec of Light Speed AF to catch the most fleeting shooting opportunities.

Now the DMC-ZS15(TZ25) can record high-resolution full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60i (NTSC) / 50i (PAL) videos in AVCHD (MPEG-4 / H.264) format. 1. Tough Body with Rugged Design and a Host of Functions to Assist Outdoor Excitement

The DMC-TS4(FT4) is waterproof to a depth of 12m and dustproof equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. Thanks to rubber padding and reinforced glass inside the camera, the DMC-TS4(FT4) features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand. With the minimum apertural area, the DMC-TS4(FT4) boasts even higher tightness of sealing to withstand pressure in underwater as deep as 12m.

The DMC-TS4(FT4) is drop proof from a height up to 2.0m in accordance with the "MIL-STD 810F Method516.5-Shock" test standard. In addition to reinforcing the exterior of the camera with shock-resistant material, the DMC-TS4(FT4) uses folded optics to prevent its lens unit from taking damage when dropped during operation. The lens unit is protected by a supplementary damper to absorb the force from shock impact. All components including the lens unit are reexamined to endure the temperature as low as -10 degrees C to make the DMC-TS4(FT4) freezeproof.

Integrating the GPS function, DMC-TS4(FT4) shows the name of the Country/Region, State/Prov./County, County/Township, City/Town/Village and Landmark using the internal data to give users real-time information of the place when taking photos to add fun of photo shooting during travel. The area information covers 203 countries or regions for global use. Plus, more than 1,000,000 of landmark information covers 82 countries or regions. The photos and videos with the location names are automatically sorted in the virtual folder alphabetically in the camera allowing quick reach. You can also refer to the location names via the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 Advanced Edition. It is also easy to sort or search images by the location names. The DMC-TS4(FT4) incorporates a high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR 28mm wide-angle lens with a 4.6x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 28-128mm). The folded optics of shaft guide method is adopted to secure the toughness of the lens unit. Comprising 10 elements and a prism unit in 8 groups, including 1 ED lens and 5 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces passing the Leica’s stringent standards to deliver exceptional optical performance to the edges. Thanks to the newly incorporated Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the DMC-TS4(FT4) which extends the zoom ratio by approx. 2x maintaining the picture quality even combining the digital zoom. This means the 4.6x optical can virtually extend to 9.3x equivalent.

The 12.1-megapixel CCD with 2-channel signal output structure boasts higher signal transfer speed for the operations that require high performance and speed such as 1920 x 1080 full-HD video recording and high speed continuous shooting. The picture quality is beyond that of standard rugged design digital compact cameras thanks to the higher sensitivity which is made possible by highly efficient light condensation adoption larger on-chip micro lenses.

For the image processor, the Venus Engine is incorporated that features exceptionally advanced signal processing capabilities featuring its Intelligent Noise Reduction.

Despite its compact profile of body, the DMC-TS4(FT4) is capable of recording full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60i (NTSC) / 50i (PAL) videos in AVCHD (MPEG-4 / H.264) format*. The AVCHD format excels in the compatibility with AV equipment like HDTVs or Blu-ray Disc players. A special, separate button on the top lets the user instantly start recording videos while shooting photos without having to make any extra settings. Alternately, user can choose MP4 at 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL) for video recording, which has higher compatibility with PCs.

For more effective countermeasure against blur, the Active Mode is newly equipped with DMC- TS4(FT4) for an option of image stabilization in video recording. In addition to the POWER O.I.S., the Active Mode encourages active video recording at wide angle such as shooting while walking without deterioration of the image quality. 4. A Host of Functions Expands Fun of Photography

DMC-TS4(FT4) feature 3 new shooting modes – Time Lapse Shot, Miniature Effect and Panorama Shot. With the Time Lapse Shot, once the start time, the interval and the number of picture to shoot are set, the camera automatically record images. You can leave the camera and get a record of stationary observation for subjects such as flowers coming into bloom, scudding cloud, wild animals in nature.

The Miniature Effect mode in which the peripherals are defocused while saturation and contrast is emphasized to look the picture like a diorama. The video recorded in this mode is played back in 10x fast-forwarding making it more comical to watch*. Panorama Shot makes it is possible to shoot a maximum 360-degree of horizontal / vertical panoramic image with consequent shots taken by overlaying the previous picture.

Waterproof/Dustproof Performance
This camera’s waterproof/dustproof rating complies with the “IPX8” and “IP6X” ratings. Provided the care and maintenance guidelines described in this document are strictly followed, this camera can operate underwater, to a depth not exceeding 12 m (40 feet) for a time not exceeding 60 minutes.*¹

Anti-shock Performance
This camera also complies with “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”. The camera has cleared a drop test from a height of 2 m (6.6 feet) onto 3 cm (0.1 feet) thick plywood. In most cases this camera should not sustain any damage if dropped from a height not exceeding 2 m (6.6 feet).*²

Panasonic’s test method is based on the above “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”.
However, the drop height was changed from 122 cm (4 feet) to 200 cm (6.6 feet) dropping onto 3 cm (0.1 feet) thick plyboard. This drop test was passed. (Disregarding appearance change such as loss of paint or distortion of the part where drop impact is applied.)

Handling of the camera
• Waterproofing is not guaranteed if the unit is subject to an impact as a result of being hit or dropped etc. If an impact to the camera occurs, it should be inspected (subject to a fee) by a Panasonic’s Service Centre to verify that the waterproofing is still effective.
• When the camera is splashed with detergent, soap, hot spring, bath additive, sun oil, sun screen, chemical, etc., wipe it off immediately.

Featuring the flat and slim profile adopting the folded optics, the new lens system in the DMC-TS20(FT20) features 25mm ultra wide angle of view and 4x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 25-100mm). 1. Credible Toughness in a Slim, Stylish Profile
with 25mm Ultra Wide Angle 4x Optical Zoom Lens in Folded Optics

The DMC-TS20(FT20) is waterproof to a depth of 5m and dustproof equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. Thanks to rubber padding and reinforced glass and carbon resins inside the camera, the DMC-TS20(FT20) features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand. The DMC-TS20(FT20) is drop proof from a height up to 1.5m in accordance with the "MIL-STD 810F Method516.5-Shock" test standard. The lens unit is protected by a supplementary damper to absorb the force from shock impact. All components including the lens unit are reexamined to endure the temperature as low as -10 degrees C to make the DMC-TS20(FT20) freezeproof.

The 16.1-megapixel DMC-TS20(FT20) features a newly developed 25mm ultra wide angle 4x optical zoom lens. The folded optics of the shaft guide method is adopted to secure the toughness of the lens unit. Comprising 11 elements and a prism unit in 10 groups, including an ED lens and 5 aspherical lenses with 9 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit renders high resolution image corner to corner even adopting the folded optics. 25mm ultra wide angle of view enables shooting dynamic landscapes or group portrait without letting them protrude out of a frame. The 4x optical zoom increases its power to 8x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function taking advantage of the Intelligent Resolution technology with minimum deterioration of picture quality even using digital zoom.

2. 720p HD Video Recording in MP4

The new DMC-TS20(FT20) records dynamic HD video in 1280 x 720p at a smooth 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL) in MP4 format which has high compatibility with PCs or smartphones for editing or sharing the videos. The recorded videos can be directly uploaded to YouTube. The DMC-TS20(FT20) incorporates dedicated video button to switch photo / video recording quickly. Optical zoom is also available in video recording as well as Active Mode that minimizes hand shake even the video is recorded while walking.

3. iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode and Various Special Effects for More Fun and Ease in Photography

Panasonic incorporated the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of misshots. All of these useful, convenient shooting-assist functions – MEGA O.I.S., AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure – are automatically activated by just activating an iA mode.

DMC-TS20(FT20) comes equipped not only with strong basic performance but also with a variety of shooting options to enhance ease and fun. The Miniature Effect mode in which the peripherals are defocused while saturation and contrast is emphasized to look the picture like a diorama. Waterproof/Dustproof Performance
This camera’s waterproof/dustproof rating complies with the “IPX8” and “IP6X” ratings. Provided the care and maintenance guidelines described in this document are strictly followed, this camera can operate underwater, to a depth not exceeding 5 m (16 feet) for a time not exceeding 60 minutes.*¹

Anti-shock Performance
This camera also complies with “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”. The camera has cleared a drop test from a height of 1.5 m (5 feet) onto 3 cm (0.1 feet) thick plywood. In most cases this camera should not sustain any damage if dropped from a height not exceeding 1.5 m (5 feet).*²

Panasonic is pleased to announce a new addition of slim, stylish compact digital camera DMC-FX80 to the LUMIX FX series which is popular with its outstanding performance and sophisticated design.

LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMARIT lens 24mm ultra wide angle 5x optical zoom (equivalent to 24mm to 120mm on a 35mm camera) with F2.5 brightness fits in the compact lens unit enhancing the slimness of camera body. The lens especially excels not only in shooting dynamic landscapes with its wide angle of view but also in capturing moving subjects even in low-lit situations such as indoors or at night with its outstanding brightness. The 5x optical zoom increases its power to 10x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function with minimum deterioration of image quality thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology.

Incorporating a 12.1-megapixel Hi-Speed CCD sensor, the DMC-FX80 is compatible with high-speed, large-capacity signal processing required for 1,920 x 1,080 full-HD video recording in AVCHD/MP4. It also contributes to the high speed burst shooting and Sonic Speed AF to catch the most fleeting shooting opportunities. And the advanced image processing LSI Venus Engine assures high picture quality in both photo and video recording with its Intelligent Noise Reduction system.

A variety of special effects that add fun to shooting experience are newly integrated in the DMC-FX80. In addition to 3D Photo mode and Panorama Shot, Creative Control offers 10 patterns of attractive filter effect in photo / video recording. It is also possible to look images nicer even after shooting with Artistic Retouch (Creative Retouch, Defocus Effect, Color / Brightness), Beauty Retouch and Auto Retouch.

Also, iA (Intelligent Auto) mode lets users leave everything to the camera to take beautiful images with MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) with Active Mode and Motion Deblur mode together with AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure. Once you enter the iA mode, these multi-capable functions happen automatically, so that you can shoot without the bother of adjusting settings every time conditions change.

The DMC-FX80 is newly compatible with USB power charging in addition to the conventional AC power supply. Users can enjoy their communication with the LUMIX Image Uploader, which realizes instant image sharing via Facebook or YouTube with any PC on the spot.

1. Super Bright F2.5 LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMARIT Lens,
High-Speed CCD and Venus Engine Assure High Picture Quality

The DMC-FX80 incorporates high quality LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMARIT lens that boasts excellent brightness of F2.5. The F2.5 lens is even brighter by approx. 25% than the F2.8 lens which is generally considered a bright lens. It allows the use of higher shutter speed but captures stunningly clear, sharp, blur-free images even in lower lighting situation. Together with the MEGA O.I.S. in the iA mode, DMC-FX80 powerfully suppresses blur caused by the movement of subjects. Also, the 24mm (35mm camera equivalent: 24-120mm ) ultra-wide-angle lens – rare on a compact camera – gives photographers a wider range of composition possibilities with approx. 213% larger viewing space compared to that of 35mm camera. The super-high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMARIT lens minimizes distortion at the wide end. Comprising of 6 elements in 5 groups with 3 aspherical lenses with 5 aspherical surfaces, the lens unit in DMC-FX80 realized downsizing of both total length and diameter to fit in the slim, compact body of the camera. This advanced lens unit passes Leica’s stringent standards and delivers an exceptional optical performance with its minimal distortion and chromatic aberrations while suppressing ghosting and flaring. The Intelligent Zoom is also available with the DMC-FX80. It is an extensive zoom function using digital zoom, however, you can even draw the subject 2x closer than the original optical zoom with minimum deterioration of image quality thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology. This means the 5x optical can virtually extend to 10x equivalent.

The 12.1-megapixel CCD with 2-channel signal output structure boasts higher signal transfer speed for the operations that require high performance and speed such as 1,920 x 1,080 full HD video recording and high speed continuous shooting. The picture quality is also improved thanks to the higher sensitivity which is made possible by highly efficient light condensation adoption larger on-chip micro lenses.

For the image processor, the Venus Engine FHD is incorporated that features exceptionally advanced signal processing capabilities featuring its Intelligent Noise Reduction.

The multi-task image-processing engine Venus Engine supports a super-fast response time which makes it easier to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities together with the Sonic Speed AF (Auto Focus) that lets you lock on the subject. The LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMARIT lens, high resolution CCD and the high performance Venus Engine assures high quality image rendering.

2. A Host of Futuristic Functions Expands Fun of Photography with Smart Touch Control

The DMC-FX80 adopts touch-screen operation with 3.0-inch Smart Touch Screen. Auto Focus is immediately set to the subject by just touching it on the large LCD and you can even release the shutter. Once you lock on the subject by a touch, the camera tracks the subject with the AF tracking function even if it moves.

And Expressive, Retro, High Key, Dynamic Monochrome, Toy Effect and Soft Focus effect can be applied even after images were shot with Creative Retouch function. Taking advantage of the touch operation, Defocus Effect is also new on DMC-FX80 that gives a beautifully defocused background to the macro shots to look the subject stand out. Brightness can be changed with exposure and the color with saturation letting users give different impression to the photo in camera from the original.

The Beauty Retouch mode makes it possible to virtually make up the human faces to look them nicer. This mode is advanced with addition of smile look in addition to the Aesthetic Retouch (Clear Skin, Shine Removal, Whitening of Teeth, Lift Up, Eye Emphasis), Foundation and Make-up Retouch (Lip Color, Cheek Color, Eye Shadow). A rich variety of trend color is available in each cosmetic and the strength of effect can be adjusted individually according to the user’s intention. On the other hand, One-touch Make Up mode offers 4 patterns of latest trend make-up – Natural, Smokey, Glamour and Cheerful. Furthermore, new My Beauty setting can memorize 3 patterns of adjusted parameter. Once favorite pattern of Beauty Retouch is created, users can recall and apply it immediately when they want it.

3. 1,920 x 1,080 Full-HD Video Recording in AVCHD / MP4 Format

Despite its compact profile of body, the DMC-FX80 is capable of recording full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60i (NTSC) / 50i (PAL) videos in AVCHD (MPEG-4 / H.264)* format. The AVCHD format excels in the compatibility with AV equipment like HDTVs or Blu-ray Disc players and the video can be played back by just inserting an SDXC/SDHC/SD Memory Card or by connecting with mini HDMI cable. A special, separate button on the top lets the user instantly start recording videos while shooting photos without having to make any extra settings. Alternately, user can choose MP4 at 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL) for video recording, which has higher compatibility with PCs.

For more effective countermeasure against blur, the Active Mode is equipped with DMC-FX80 for an option of image stabilization in video recording. In addition to the MEGA O.I.S., the Active Mode encourages active video recording at wide angle such as shooting while walking without deterioration of the image quality. The 5x optical zoom is available in video recording. The popular iA (Intelligent Auto) is also available in video recording.

The videos also come with the high-quality stereo sound of Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator, to offer highly realistic sound to the motion images. The stereo zoom microphone comes with zoom noise reduction system, and the Auto Wind Cut function blocks out most of the noise from background wind.

The 26mm wide angle lens captures approx. 181% larger viewing space compared with that of standard 35mm camera, which excels in shooting vast landscapes or many subjects even at a short distance indoors. The 5x optical zoom draws subjects close without deterioration of image quality unlike using a digital zoom. A lens with F2.8 brightness is notable in this class of camera that is helpful to capture clear images even in dimly lit situations like nighttime or indoors.

The 14.1-megapixel of large image sensor offers high resolution image so that it is still affordable to crop the part you want to enlarge out of the picture even after shooting.

2. O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) and the iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode

However the technologies in camera are developed, the most frequent cause of misshot is hand-shake at all times. That is why Panasonic thinks O.I.S.
