The New Creative Digital Compact Camera DMC-LX7
Featuring LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX Lens with F1.4 - F2.3 Full-range Brightness
For the True Enthusiasts of Photography
Panasonic is proud to announce the new premium digital compact camera DMC-LX7 from the world-renowned LX series which have been long acclaimed by the photography enthusiasts for its high picture quality and creative descriptiveness. The new DMC-LX7 is fully re-designed in the lens, the image sensor and the image processing engine together with other improvements and upgrades.
The newly developed LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX lens features F1.4-F2.3 outstanding brightness at 24-90mm versatile zoom range (35mm camera equivalent). This stunningly bright lens is the extraordinarily rich amount of light can give impressive expression to the image by reproducing exquisite gradation and mellow defocus. Panasonic's Black Box Nano Surface Coating technology minimizes light reflection that causes ghost and flare, which help boasting stunning, true-to-life images with outstanding resolution and detail. The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) is improved in the correction accuracy. The newly developed 10.1-megapixel high sensitivity MOS Sensor achieves the expansion of dynamic range by increasing the sensitivity and the saturation. In synergy with the performance of F1.4 bright lens, the DMC-LX7 assures astonishingly high picture quality even in low light situations. The Light Speed AF catches the most fleeting shooting opportunities.
The external design is also improved to achieve even higher operability and to control the rich light source that DMC-LX7 can gain. The aperture ring allows direct, intuitive control of aperture and the internal ND filter makes it possible to reduce light to use slower shutter speed. The DMC-LX7 also newly integrates Level Gauge. The 3.0-inch large 920,000-dot high resolution Intelligent LCD is also redesigned to offer remarkable visibility under virtually any circumstances. The hot shoe allows attachment of advanced accessories such as optional Live View Finder which helps shooting under strong daylight with high visibility.
In addition to the full manual control, wide variety of shooting options such as 16 filters of Creative Control and Photo Style are integrated to look photo and video even more true to the photographer’s creative intention together with the popular Time Lapse shot recording function.

Leading the expressive possibility of compact cameras to even higher dimension, the DMC-LX7 totally defies the stereotype of what the pocket-sized camera can do for the professionals and high amateurs, or step-up users this time again.
* 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL) in MP4 recording.

1. The F1.4 Super Bright 24mm Ultra-Wide-Angle
High Quality LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX Lens and Nano Surface Coating

The DMC-LX7 is equipped with newly developed 24mm ultra-wide-angle LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX lens with 3.8x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 24-90mm). This supreme lens features outstanding F1.4 brightness at wide-end and even F2.3 at tele-end. The F1.4 lens is about 400% as bright as the F2.8 lens, itself generally considered a bright lens. The extraordinarily rich amount of light allows not only using higher shutter speed to capture stunningly clear, sharp, blur-free images in lower lighting situation, but also giving impressive expression to the image by reproducing exquisite gradation and mellow defocus – to elevates the possibility of photography to the unprecedented level. The lens unit consists of 11 elements in 10 groups with 5 aspherical lenses with 9 aspherical surfaces including the dual-sided aspherical surface ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens which has never been adopted to any LUMIX digital compact cameras nor interchangeable lenses. Chromatic aberration is well compensated by the characteristic mechanism of ED lens while other distortions are corrected with the attribute of aspherical lens at the same time. The result is high resolution image with minimal distortion and artifacts such as chromatic aberrations, ghosting and flaring.
This advanced lens also makes it easy to produce beautiful photos with pleasing soft-focused background thanks to the shallow depth of field provided by the extra light. With the Nano Surface Coating technology, light reflection is dramatically minimized at entire visual light range (380nm-780nm) by applying the extra-low refractive index coating with nano-sized structure on the surface of the lens. Also, the 24mm ultra wide angle lens gives photographers a wider range of composition possibilities. The LX7 captures approx. 136% larger viewing space compared to that 28mm wide angle camera does. The super-high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX lens minimizes distortion at the wide end, so users can get stunning, true-to-life images with outstanding resolution and detail.
Thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the LX7 which extends the zoom ratio to 7.5x equivalent maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. For image stabilization, the POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) is integrated to suppress hand-shake vibration effectively in shooting using slow shutter speed.
In addition, the internal ND filter makes it possible to reduce the light to use slower shutter speed by 3 steps. Also, the iris diaphragm allows the users to adjust aperture at fine steps manually.

2. Newly Designed 1/1.7-inch 10.1-megapixel* High Sensitivity MOS Sensor
with Wide Dynamic Range

The DMC-LX7 adopts new 1/1.7-inch 10.1-megapixel* MOS Sensor that features improvement in S/N ratio by 1.5 dB compared with the predecessor DMC-LX5**. The result is a high resolution image with stunning clarity not only in high sensitivity recording but also in low ISO setting reproducing rich gradation with the exquisitely wide dynamic range even when the situation is highly contrasted.
The high performance image processor Venus Engine also boasts advanced signal processing. The Intelligent NR system keeps the resolution high by optimizing the NR process to be applied on each part of an image. The Multi-process NR quickly detects brightness in each part of a picture and applies optimum noise reduction in multiple steps.
The high speed digital signal output technology is integrated to realize high speed consecutive shooting at 11 fps in full resolution with mechanical shutter and 5 fps with continuous AF and to record full-HD 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) smooth video. It also contributes to the high speed Light Speed AF to catch the most fleeting shooting opportunities.
* Camera effective pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio. Gross sensor resolution is total 12.8-megapixel.
** Panasonic in-house comparison with DMC-LX5.

3. Enhanced Operability and Unlimited Possibility for Expression

Full manual control is available with DMC-LX7 for advanced users to enjoy more creative photography. With its P/A/S/M mode, photographers can enjoy creative shooting expressing their intention not only in photo but also in video.
The DMC-LX7 is studied further to precisely control the rich light source with newly equipped aperture ring, internal ND filter, focus lever and rear dial. The internal ND filter allows opening aperture to get visible defocus even under sunny outdoors while suppresses halation or using slower shutter speed to express the flow or splash of water. The Level Gauge is newly added for DMC-LX7 to detect the horizontal / vertical angle of view with its internal level working with the acceleration sensor. This is helpful to keep horizontal composition even when shooting in high or low angle.
The popular Creative Control mode is incorporated to the DMC-LX7 by adding 2 exclusive filters – Radial Defocus and Smooth Defocus in addition to Soft Focus*, Dynamic Monochrome, Impressive Art, One Point Color, Cross Process, Low Key, Toy Effect, Star Filter*, Expressive, Retro, High Key, Sepia, High Dynamic, Miniature Effect** mode to be 16 in total. The Radial Defocus adds defocus effect radially from the light source while the Smooth Defocus makes the defocus figuration even smoother. Some parameters in each mode can be also adjustable. Photo Style is also available for the expression of finer nuance with Standard, Vivid, Natural, Monochrome, Scenery, Portrait and Custom preset options.
Plus, with the Time Lapse Shot, once the start time, the interval and the number of picture to shoot are set, the camera automatically record images. You can leave the camera and get a record of stationary observation for subjects such as flowers coming into bloom, scudding cloud, wild animals in nature.
The P (Program AE) mode in the DMC-LX7 has 2 options – Fully Open Aperture mode and Resolution Priority mode. In the Fully Open Aperture mode, the camera opens aperture fully to visibly defocus the background. In Resolution Priority mode, internal ND filter is effectively used to draw the best resolution performance of the camera.
The DMC-LX7 has advanced functions that will satisfy experienced photographers, yet is easy and comfortable to be used by beginners with its iA (Intelligent Auto) and iA Plus mode. In addition to the popular iA functions – POWER O.I.S., AF Tracking, Intelligent D-range Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Recognition, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent HDR (High Dynamic Range), Intelligent Handheld Night Shot and Motion Deblur*** mode –, the iA Plus mode lets users adjust defocusing area in the background, exposure compensation and white balance for more flexible control.
The DMC-LX7 is equipped with new 3.0-inch, 920,000-dot Intelligent LCD with super high resolution and a wide viewing angle. The screen brightness automatically adjusts in 11 steps as the surrounding brightness level changes, ensuring easy visibility at all times. The big screen reflects fine details, making it easy to check the focus before shooting. It also serves as a small photo and video viewer, allowing the user and friends to enjoy viewing the still and motion images together.
* For photo only.
** Sound will not be recorded with [MINIATURE EFFECT] and approximately 1/10 of the time period is recorded. (If you record for 10 minutes, the resulting motion picture recording will be approximately 1 minute long.)

4. The 1,920 x 1,080 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) Full-HD Video Recording
in the AVCHD Progressive Format and MP4*

The LUMIX DMC-LX7 is an advanced photographic tool for recording not only great photos but also beautiful full-HD videos. The DMC- LX7 can record high-resolution full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) videos in AVCHD Progressive (MPEG-4 / H.264) format. The AVCHD Progressive format excels in the compatibility with AV equipment like HDTVs or Blu-ray Disc players and the video can be played back by just inserting an SDXC/SDHC/SD Memory Card or by connecting with mini HDMI cable. A special, separate button on the top lets the user instantly start recording videos while shooting photos without having to make any extra settings. Alternately, user can choose MP4 at 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL) for video recording, which has higher compatibility with PCs.
The 3.8x optical zoom with step zoom function and POWER O.I.S. is available in video recording, too. The videos also come with the high-quality stereo sound of Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator, to offer highly realistic sound to the motion images. The stereo microphone comes with zoom noise reduction system, and the Auto Wind Cut function blocks out most of the noise from background wind. The iA (Intelligent Auto) and iA Plus mode are also available in video recording.
The DMC-LX7 goes further than simply recording HD videos. The DMC-FZ200 features a high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 25mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 24x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 25-600mm) that achieves full range F2.8. The stunningly bright F2.8 aperture at 600mm is the world’s first achievement that has never been accomplished for any digital compact cameras*. It enables capturing a moving subject which is even in distant away clearly with fast shutter speed.
Comprising of 14 elements in 11 groups, including 3 ED lenses and 5 aspherical lenses with 9 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit realizes the outstandingly compact body while delivering exceptional optical performance suppressing distortion at wide end and color bleeding at tele end. To achieve full range F2.8 with shallow depth of field, high precision correction performance against distortion is indispensable. Panasonic integrates 5 aspherical lenses and 3 ED lenses into the DMC-FZ200 to pass Leica's stringent standards. Notably, the figure accuracy required for the aspherical lens is only within 0.1 um, which can be managed by the unparalleled mold technology of Panasonic Yamagata Factory.
Plus, with the Nano Surface Coating technology, light reflection is dramatically minimized at entire visual light range (380nm-780nm) by applying the extra-low refractive index coating with nano-sized structure on the surface of the lens. It results in the super clear picture with dramatic reduction of ghost and flare. Thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the DMC- FZ200 which extends the zoom ratio to 48x equivalent maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. Not only drawing near the subject distant away with its powerful optical zoom, the 25mm ultra wide angle lens captures approx.196% wider angle of view compared with a standard 35mm camera. It is helpful for shooting dynamic landscape or indoor group portrait.
The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), which effectively suppresses hand-shake vibration, increases its correction accuracy.

DMC-SZ5
The New Wi-Fi® Capable Digital Communication Camera DMC-SZ5
With High Quality 10x Optical Zoom LEICA DC Lens in a Slim Body
Featuring Flexible Shooting Style and Easy Sharing Operation
* 35mm camera equivalent: 25-250mm
Panasonic is pleased to announce a new 10x optical zoom DMC-SZ5 that integrates with Wi-Fi® connectivity (802.11 b/g/n) in a slim, stylish profile. The DMC-SZ5 is enhanced in its optical versatility and ease of use. Users can connect the camera directly to their smartphone anywhere by using it as a wireless router without a need of cabling or searching a Wi-Fi® hotspot. In addition, users can utilize smartphone for another monitor of camera that enables setting focus, zooming or releasing the shutter away from the spot where the camera is positioned. Both photo and video in their original size can be archived to the registered digital equipment such as PC automatically via the wireless router at home whenever the battery is charged, which means users do not have to eject and re-insert the SD Memory Card nor connect the camera with the USB connection cable to archive the data. Users can choose to save images on the personal folder of Panasonic's cloud service LUMIX CLUB and share them in major SNS (Social Networking Service) in one-stop action. It is also possible to play back the images in the camera on the Panasonic DLNA-compliant VIERA TV via Wi-Fi®*.
The DMC-SZ5 is not just a communication camera but it features outstanding performance packed in a slim, stylish body. The 25 mm ultra wide angle 10x optical zoom (equivalent to 25 mm to 250 mm on a 35mm camera) LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens excels not only in shooting dynamic landscapes with its wide angle of view but also in capturing subject up close with its powerful zooming. The 14.1-megapixel CCD and the Venus Engine processes high quality image both in photo and video recording. The 720p HD videos can be recorded in MP4 format which has a high compatibility with smartphone or other portable electronic devices.
The iA (Intelligent Auto) mode lets users leave everything to the camera to take beautiful photo and video with maximum ease. Miniature Effect, Panorama Shot and Auto Retouch are also available to expand the shooting fun.
Offering an outstanding friendliness with the smartphone, DMC-SZ5 suggests users a whole new way of using a digital camera, easy data archiving and smart sharing at a time, which has never achieved before.
* The wireless access point (router) is required.

1. Shoot, View, Share Images in More Flexible Way with Wi-Fi® Connectivity

The DMC-SZ5 integrates a Wi-Fi® connectivity (802.11 b/g/n) for users to enjoy flexible shooting style and instant image sharing with easy operation. With a smartphone, remote shooting is available which means that users gain another control and monitor to utilize. Just placing a camera at a shooting position, users can go away from it. What the camera is seeing is displayed live at smooth 30 fps on the smartphone and it is possible to zoom, set focus position and shoot with a control on the smartphone. Playing back to confirm the image is also possible so that the user can continue shooting right at the spot without moving back to the camera to reset like you do with the self-timer function. This is helpful in shooting group portrait including the photographer or pictures of unusual angle of view. In addition, it is possible to tag the location information to the image by utilizing the GPS (Global Positioning System) log of a smartphone and share it to the preferred SNS (Social Networking Service). All these flexible shooting / browsing / sharing style are made possible with the DMC-SZ5 and the Panasonic's dedicated application software “LUMIX LINK” for iOS / Android smartphones.
Archiving images is troublesome as they increase but the DMC-SZ5 does it all for you during battery charging by transferring the data to PC or other compliant Panasonic AV devices such as Digital Photo Frame or DIGA Blu-ray™ Disc Recorder automatically via the wireless access point (router) at home. The camera always tells what images are new and automatically upload them only. Also, users can save precious record of memory to the Panasonic's exclusive cloud service “LUMIX CLUB”. In this cloud service, personal folder is allotted to the DMC-SZ5 users to upload image data anytime and they can choose to transfer the image saved at this space to Facebook™, Flickr™, Picasa™, Twitter™ or YouTube™. With the Cloud Sync. Service, not only full-resolution photos but also HD quality videos can be synchronized among the compliant electronic devices you are using (e.g. PC, smartphone and AV equipment) or transferred to the web services as you like.
The Wi-Fi function also allows playback of images on the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) - compliant VIERA HDTV*.
* The wireless access point (router) is required.

2. 25mm Ultra Wide-Angle LEICA DC Lens with 10x Powerful Optical Zoom,
14.1-Megapixel CCD Sensor and Venus Engine

The high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens system is even more versatile with 25mm ultra wide-angle to powerful 10x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 25-250mm). Comprising 9 elements in 7 groups including 4 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces, adoption of ultra thin lens and its special mechanical structure makes the unit's overall length short to fit in the slim body despite its versatile zoom range from ultra wide to telephoto. Passing Leica's stringent standards, DMC-SZ5 boast exceptional optical performance with stunning clarity with minimum distortion and flare. Thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the DMC-SZ5 which extends the zoom ratio up to 20x equivalent maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. Blurring image caused by a handshake often occurs in shooting using high zoom, however, Panasonic's MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) prevents it without deterioration of image quality.
The 14.1-megapixel CCD sensor and the Venus Engine generate high-precision photo and video image recording. The DMC-SZ5 boasts Sonic Speed AF that helps to catch even the most fleeting photo opportunities together with a quick start-up.

3. 720p HD Video Recording in MP4

The new DMC-SZ5 records dynamic HD video in 1280 x 720 at a smooth 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL) in MP4 format which can be played back directly on the PC or other portable electronic devices without needing a file conversion. The recorded videos can be directly uploaded to YouTube. The DMC-SZ5 incorporates dedicated video button to switch photo / video recording quickly. Powerful 10x optical zoom is also available in video recording.
• Motion pictures in [MP4] can be recorded continuously for up to 29 minutes 59 seconds. Also, motion picture recorded continuously in [MP4] is up to 4 GB.
• Use a card with SD Speed Class* with "Class 4" or higher when recording videos.
* SD Speed Class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing.

4. Special Effects and iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode for More Ease and Fun

DMC-SZ5 comes equipped not only with strong basic performance but also with more shooting options to enhance ease and fun including Miniature Effect and Panorama Shot. The Miniature Effect mode in which the peripherals are defocused while saturation and contrast is emphasized to look the picture like a diorama. The video recorded in this mode is played back in 10x fast-forwarding making it more comical to watch*. Panorama makes it possible to shoot a horizontal / vertical panoramic image with consequent shots taken by overlaying the previous picture.
Furthermore, DMC-SZ5 offers Auto Retouch function that adjusts contrast and brightness to give different impression to the photo with just a press of a button. Appropriate retouch is automatically applied depending on the image – if the image was shot too dark, it can be clear and bright to look it nicer with this function.
Panasonic incorporated the Intelligent Auto mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of misshots. DMC-SZ5 integrates AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure. The user can activate all of these useful, convenient shooting-assist functions by just activating an iA mode. All these make the DMC-SZ5 the ultimate, super-versatile automatic camera for capturing clear, beautiful, mistake-free photos with ease.
* Sound will not be recorded with [MINIATURE EFFECT] and approximately 1/10 of the time period is recorded. (If you record for 10 minutes, the resulting motion picture recording will be approximately 1 minute long.)

5. Other Options for Upgrading Photographic Enjoyment

DMC-LZ20
Compact Shooting Style Camera with Powerful 21x Optical Zoom
LUMIX New Super Zoom DMC-LZ20
Featuring iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode and 720p HD Video Recording
* 35mm camera equivalent: 25-525mm
Panasonic is pleased to announce new shooting style digital compact camera LUMIX DMC-LZ20 with powerful 25mm ultra wide angle 21x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 25-525mm) lens with Optical Image Stabilizer. The 16-megapixel high resolution CCD and advanced image processing LSI powerfully supports shooting high quality photo and video.
For beginners, the LUMIX’s popular iA (Intelligent Auto) powerfully assists in any shooting situations to get the best result. Not only this iA mode but also P / M mode is available with DMC-LZ20 to expand users’ photographic experience as may be necessary later.
DMC-LZ20 is also capable of recording HD video in 720p. The 3.0-inch large 460,000-dot LCD assures high visibility in any lighting circumstances, which is excellent for both shooting and playing back images. It also features an ergonomically studied body design that offers stable, comfortable grip even holding a camera long time. Featuring a strong presence of powerful zoom lens, the external design of DMC-LZ20 is distinguished yet sophisticated.

1. 25mm Ultra Wide-Angle and Powerful 21x Optical Zoom Lens for High Versatility

The DMC-LZ20 features 25mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 21x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 25-525mm). Comprising of 12 elements in 9 groups including 3 aspherical lenses with 5 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit realizes the outstandingly compact body. The Extra Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 48.5x (at 3-megapixel resolution) by using the center part of the 16-megapixel high resolution CCD to bring subjects even closer. Not only drawing near the subject distant away with its powerful optical zoom, the 25mm ultra wide angle lens captures approx.196% wider angle of view compared with a standard 35mm camera. It is helpful for shooting dynamic landscape or indoor group portrait.
Blurring image caused by a handshake often occurs in shooting using high zoom, however, Optical Image Stabilizer prevents it without deterioration of image quality.
Linking smoothly with the 16-megapixel high resolution CCD sensor, the image processor reproduces high quality image even in high sensitivity recording at ISO 1600 and max. ISO 6400 with High Sensitivity mode.

2. iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode and Manual Exposure

Panasonic incorporated the Intelligent Auto mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of miss-shots. The mode is a comprehensive integration of Optical Image Stabilizer, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure - the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose shots, aim and shoot the subject. The Face Detection sets appropriate AF/AE on the face of people while removing the unwanted red-eye. The Intelligent Exposure corrects the brightness in parts of the image that are too dark due to insufficient lighting, backlighting or use of the flash. The Intelligent Scene Selector automatically selects whichever of 6 Scene modes - Macro, Portrait, Scenery, Night Portrait, Night Scenery and Sunset - that best suit the shooting situation.
While offering a convenient shooting-assist function such as iA, DMC-LZ20 is equipped with P / M mode for users a step above the beginners to enjoy more creative photography.
Also, DMC-LZ20 can produce a dynamic panorama image in camera by overlaying consequent pictures shot horizontally / vertically with Panorama Shot function.

3. 720p HD Video Recording

The new DMC-LZ20 records dynamic HD video in 1280 x 720p at 30 fps in Motion JPEG. You can enjoy high quality image playback that perfectly fits a wide-screen HDTV for full-screen viewing together with HD (High Definition) photos taken in 16:9 aspects. With the bundled software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.2 Lite Edition, videos can be easily edited and uploaded to YouTube to share them with family or friends.
