The lens mount system used in the L1 is based on the Four Thirds™ open standard. This helps provide the optimal lens design for digital photography while also making it possible to create a lens that is small in size without sacrificing focal distance or brightness. Use of the Four Thirds™ Standard also means the L1 can use lenses made by other manufacturers using the same standard. You get an extensive range of interchangeable lenses to choose from.

Rather than simply following the old analog format, the Four Thirds™ Standard was developed specifically to maximize image quality with digital photography. This system is based on an open standard, with all of the flexibility that entails. Manufacturers can use the Four Thirds™ open standard to create distinctive products that meet your needs.
