The DMC-G10 can record motion images in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps in Motion JPEG format). You can enjoy recording HD motion images taking maximum advantage of lens' descriptiveness and interchangeability or the large sensor size. The DMC-G10 can also record motion images in WVGA (848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps), VGA (640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps).
• QuickTime Motion JPEG. • Some lens movement sounds may be recorded. • In Motion Picture Mode, the length of recording time depends on the capacity of the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card. (Up to the equivalent of 2 GB per motion-image recording.) • For Europe, motion images can be recorded continuously for up to 15 minutes. • Use a card with SD Speed Class* with “Class 6” or higher when recording motion images. * SD speed class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing. • SDHC Memory Cards and SDXC Memory Cards can be used only in equipment that is compatible with their respective formats. • If the computer being used does not support SDXC Memory Cards, a message prompting you to format may appear. (Doing so will cause recorded images to be erased so do not choose to format.) If the card is not recognized, please refer to the below support site.

The iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode*1 is available in motion image recording. The DMC-G10 also features the AF Tracking that lets you focus on your subject and track the subject if it moves. 5 detection and correction functions including the AF tracking are simultaneously activated to optimize the settings, so you can get stunning HD movies every time.

Once you focus on your subject, the AF Tracking continues to track the subject even if it moves.

Gyrosensors detect hand-shaking and the O.I.S. lens shifts to compensate, helping prevent blurring caused by hand-shaking.

The Face Detection function detects faces anywhere in the frame and automatically chooses the optimal focus and exposure. It detects a maximum of 15 faces at once.

The Intelligent Scene Selector senses the ambient conditions and automatically selects any of the Scenery, Portrait, Macro, or Low Light Mode accordingly*2.

By detecting the intensity of the ambient light and adjusting the exposure accordingly, the Intelligent Exposure prevents blown highlights and blocked shadows.
*1 Some functions in the iA Mode will not be available depending on the lens that is mounted.
*2 With some subject and shooting conditions, it is just not possible to judge the best shooting details. When this happens, it is recommended that you shoot with the Scene Mode that best suits your purpose.

The Film Mode can be used to record movies. You can choose from 6 color types and 3 monochrome types, and adjust the contrast, sharpness, noise reduction and the saturation (only for color modes) in five steps. You get unique expressions by matching the colors to your subject and surroundings.

Now there are more slideshow options. And they can be used with both still and motion images, for recollecting memorable moments in seamless, chronological order. You can also select and play only still images, only motion images. Choose whichever slideshow you like the best.
The appeal of an interchangeable lens system camera is that a wider range of motion image expression becomes possible by changing the lens. Micro Four Thirds lenses include the LUMIX G lenses, which range from ultra-wide angle to telephoto. And the optional DMW-MA1, DMW-MA2M and DMW-MA3R mount adaptors further expand the variety of lenses you can use.

The lens that complies with the optional HD movie compatible Micro Four Thirds mount is recommended for shooting movies. In addition to the capability to use the Continuous AF / AE function for recording motion images, the silence design that helps suppress lens drive noise makes recording sounds greater clarity.
* 35mm camera equivalent.
