The Intuitive Touch-control Shooting

Revolutionary, Intuitive Shooting Touch-control Shooting

To elevate its operability even higher, the DMC-G2 adopts touch-control shooting for the first time in the world* as an interchangeable lens system camera. The auto focus is immediately set to the subject by just touching it on the large, 460,000-dot LCD. You can also operate the auto focus and shutter release at the same time with just a touch, for a completely new way to shoot.

* For an interchangeable lens system camera as of March 7, 2010.

Touch Shutter

Still image recording

Still image recording in movie recording*

You can operate the auto focus and shutter release at the same time with just a touch. This kind of intuitive touch operation lets you easily catch even fast-action sports shots where your subject is on the move. It also makes it easy to capture decisive moments with optimal framing and settings. And this function can be used while movies too.

* In PICTURE SIZE S (2-Megapixel) in 16:9.

Touch AF

AF Tracking

Touch the screen, and the DMC-G2 locks on and automatically "tracks" the subject as it moves, keeping on adjusting the focus settings for best results.

1-area AF

The 1-area AF function lets you focus on the subject in any part of the LCD – just touch the screen to point it out. You can also freely change the size of the AF frame.

1-area AF in Face Detection

This mode will point the auto focus to a selected location while detecting faces in the image. It lets you capture creative shots by, for example, focusing on a flower in front of a person, or directing the focus to a person's eyes.

Multi-area AF

The camera divides the 23 AF areas into 9 groups. When you select one of the groups, the camera automatically selects the optimal area from that group. The cursor lets you display only the part that is within the selected range.

Touch AF in Movie Recording

Touch AF can be activated on the DMC-G2 even in movie recording. This function quickly focuses on moving subjects, and also enables professional-like rack focusing.

Touch Operation in iA Mode

In iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, simply touch the subject on the LCD and the DMC-G2 automatically selects the optimal Scene Mode.

Even Detailed Settings Are Quick and Easy Touch Manual Control

The DMC-G2 lets you adjust the aperture, shutter speed, and exposure compensation easily and intuitively by simply sliding your finger over the screen. Fine white balance adjustments and detailed settings, such as checking the vertical and horizontal alignment, are also one-finger easy. For newcomers to system camera photography, touch-control ushers in a whole new style of manual operation.

Movable MF Assist

In the manual focusing, you can enlarge the part by just a touch to select 1x, 5x or 10x and smoothly move the part by dragging it on the screen. This makes it easier to check that you've got a sharp focus.

Exposure Meter with a Touch-control

You can adjust the exposure compensation by sliding your finger on the aperture and shutter speed settings in the exposure meter shown on the LCD. The range in which appropriate exposure is not possible is shown in red, so you can intuitively grasp the corresponding aperture and shutter speed combinations.

Quick Menu

A touch is all it takes to make a variety of settings, including photo size, ISO sensitivity and white balance. You spend less time fiddling with the camera and more time getting great shots.

Finely Detailed White Balance Setting

Complex settings such as white balance 2-axis adjustment and color temperature adjustment are also done with an easy, intuitive touch.

Movable Guide Line / Movable Histogram

Use single-finger control to set the guide line to match your subject's position, and move the histogram to a position where it won't block the subject on the screen.

Playfully Fun, Conveniently Smooth Touch Playback Control

A variety of touch-control operations make playback quicker, easier and more fun. For example, with Touch-scroll playback you simply slide your finger across the LCD to scroll through images. And with Touch-zoom playback, you can simply touch a part of the image to enlarge it to as much as max. 16x.

Touch-scroll Playback

You can drag the image across the screen with a finger to browse a collection of photos as you flip over the pages of the book.

12/30 Multi Display

The 12/30 Multi Display shows you the images in small thumbnail format. The DMC-G2 makes it smooth and easy to find exactly the shot you want even from a large number of thumbnail images.

Touch-zoom Playback

Zoom Playback has become even more convenient. By simply touching the part to be enlarged, you can zoom in as much as max. 16x. The zoom area can be dragged in any of four directions for speedy and precise confirmation.
