Naturally, you want your photos and videos to be unique. This is now easier than ever because all you need to do is turn the mode dial and select the mode you want from the menu. The My Color Mode on the DMC-GH2 lets you make settings for each image from a total of 7 unique preset modes, including the colorful Expressive Mode and the soft and moody Pure Mode. The Custom Mode lets you adjust the color, brightness and saturation by simply sliding your finger over the screen just the way you want them. You can dramatically change the images of even familiar subjects to express your own creativity.

In the same way that photographers select different films for their distinctive coloring and contrast, you can manually choose from 10 Film modes including the new Cinema mode - even when shooting videos - to get even more detailed image settings. When shooting in black and white, the contrast, sharpness and noise reduction for each mode parameter can be customized in five steps by simply sliding your finger over the screen and stored in memory. The same is true when shooting in color, with the addition of the saturation adjustment. You can check the effects on the LCD or the LVF before you shoot. This makes sure you get the exact image you want.

Two finely customized settings can be stored as My Film settings, for easy recall and use.

The Multi-film Mode, allowing you to produce up to 3 different images, using different film modes at once. Possible to produce both color and black & white photos simultaneously.
The image recording is more flexible fun with the DMC-GH2. It is possible to choose the suitable frame rate of the video among 80%, 160%, 200% and 300% according to the recorded content with the new Variable Movie mode.

The range in which appropriate exposure is not possible is shown in red.
The exposure meter guide can be displayed in the P/A/S/M shooting modes. The correlation between shutter speed and aperture is shown, with a color-coded warning that alerts you when the settings are not in the proper range.

The DMC-GH2 lets you shoot in aspect ratios of 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, and 1:1 mode. The 1:1 mode gives you unique, square-shaped photos. Framing accuracy is ensured because the selected aspect ratio is reflected in the LCD or the LVF. Being able to match the aspect ratio to your subject and shooting intent gives you even greater expression.

The Scene Mode function lets the camera make the optimal settings for you automatically, so anybody can take superb photos and videos with ease. The Peripheral Defocus Mode for still images is super-easy: Simply touch the subject on the screen. The camera automatically focuses on the AF area you chose while gently defocusing the foreground and background to emphasize your subject. You don't have to change the aperture yourself to take photos with the highly attractive soft focus effect of an SLR camera.
*1 When you switch to video, normal motion picture recording is activated.
*2 When you switch to video, the Low Light Mode is activated.
*3 When you switch to video, the Portrait Mode is activated.

The Advanced Scene Mode function lets you quickly set the frequently used Portrait, Scenery, or Close-up Modes with the mode dial. And each of these modes can be fine-tuned to match the shooting situation. The Creative Mode also lets you adjust the aperture or shutter speed, for easy manual control. When pressing the Motion Picture button, the optimal Video Scene Mode is automatically selected*.
* Portrait (Normal / Soft Skin / Outdoor / Indoor / Creative) / Scenery (Normal / Nature / Architecture / Creative) / Close-up (Flower / Food / Objects / Creative).

The Full-time Live View in the DMC-GH2 gives you the unique ability to make even the most detailed settings with easy-to-understand, visual adjustments.

The DMC-GH2's 2-axis adjustment feature gives you a finer white balance adjustment for Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Shade, Halogen or Flash conditions. It can also be used to adjust the color temperature setting or White Set function. You can adjust with a reference to the horizontal axis for amber to blue, and the vertical axis for green to magenta* by simply sliding your finger over the screen. You can also quickly recall the adjustment conditions by pressing the WB button, so you can check it on the LCD or LVF, using the Full-time Live View function. In addition, the DMC-GH2 lets you memorize white balance settings in four patterns for finer control over a wide range of shooting situations.
* White balance adjustment is not possible in some modes.
You can set the ISO sensitivity to Auto, Intelligent ISO, or 160-12800 in 1/3 EV steps from the ISO button. It allows you to make fine adjustments and achieve the level of image quality you want.
Select ISO 200, 400, 800, 1600 or 3200 as the maximum ISO sensitivity. The maximum sensitivity setting is applied to the Intelligent ISO Control and ISO AUTO functions. This ensures that you'll get the level of image quality you want by letting you set your own limit for ISO sensitivity.
You can adjust the exposure compensation within a range of ±EV 5 in 1/3 EV steps. In Program AE, Aperture-priority, and Shutter-priority Modes, you can retrieve the exposure compensation value and manually adjust it directly.
The camera automatically removes noise generated when taking photos at slow shutter speeds, such as night-time shooting, always giving you beautiful images.

The Auto Bracket function records several photos at varied exposure levels in a compensation range of ±EV 3 in 1/3 EV, 2/3 EV or 1 EV steps. The DMC-GH2 will record up to 7 images with a single press of the shutter button.
The speed of consecutive shooting has been improved when shooting with the auto bracket function*.

The Multi-film Mode, allowing you to produce up to 3 different photos using different film modes at once. Possible to produce both color and black & white photos simultaneously.

The AF+MF function provides more efficient, more precise focusing. After focusing with AF, simply turn the focus ring manually for even finer control. Used together with the MF Assist function, the focusing area is enlarged by 5x or 10x and can be moved with the LCD or the LVF. The MF Rotation Assist function directs you to turn the focus ring you want to focus on.
The DMC-GH2 can be preset to Quick AF or Continuous AF*. The Quick AF starts operating as soon as the camera is pointed toward a subject, unlike the ordinary AF function, which is activated when the shutter button is pressed half-way. The Continuous AF automatically and continuously focuses on your subject, providing a clear, sharp focus even on moving subjects. With the DMC-GH2, it works even when recording videos. Both AF systems make sure that spur-of-the-moment shots aren't out of focus or blurry, and minimize the time lag for shooting.
* The Continuous AF does not work with lenses for which the focus mode cannot be set to AFC.

With the DMC-GH2, you can move the guide line according to the subject's position. This is handy when you want to take extra care in framing, especially when using a tripod.

The histogram display makes it possible to check exposure and contrast in real-time. And the Full-time Live View lets you check the setting details before you shoot, for a perfect shot every time. With the DMC-GH2, you can freely move the histogram to a position where it will not block the subject on the screen.

In spite of its compact size, the DMC-GH2's built-in flash* has a light intensity that is equivalent to GN11.0 (ISO100), GN13.9 (ISO160) and you can adjust the intensity within a range of ±EV 2 in 1/3 EV steps. It also lets you use 1st curtain sync. flash and 2nd curtain sync. flash to capture nightscapes with a natural flow of light.
* When you use the LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S., light from the built-in flash of the camera may be blocked and cause shading areas in the resulting picture depending on the shooting condition.
• Due to the ultra wide-angle field of view (35mm camera equivalent: 14-28mm), peripheral vignetting may appear when you use the LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm / F4.0 ASPH. and the built-in flash of the camera.
The Extra Tele Conversion function*1 virtually extends the zoom range up to 2x in still image recording, thus the max. 560mm*2 is available with the LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm / F4.0-5.8 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S., and max. 168mm*2 is available with the LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S.
You can also set ON / OFF separately in photo or video recording*3.
*1 When a picture size of [S] (4 M), 4:3 aspect ratio is selected.
The magnification level differs depending on picture size and aspect ratio setting.
*2 35mm camera equivalent.
*3 Firmware must be updated to the latest version 1.1.

The image has a blown highlight area.
The background, sky and flowers are sharp and vivid.
You can get original image data, recording the image directly from the Live MOS sensor without any image processing. The SILKYPIX® Developer Studio 3.1 SE software utility lets you develop RAW data files. For example, you can develop RAW data to create an image with the effect you were trying to capture when you took the shot. You get high-level basic image processing abilities that give you control over such things as unnatural edges from saturated color borders, false colors in structures with intricate detail, and chromatic noise in photos taken at high sensitivity settings. This utility provides a unique combination of high resolution and extraordinary color separation performance. In addition, the DMC-GH2 allows consecutive shots to be taken at up to 4.5 fps* in RAW format. Shooting continues even while the image data is being stored in memory.
* For a maximum of 7 images.
Color space settings for shot images are possible so that the images will be reproduced on computer screens or printed sheets correctly.
・sRGB
The sRGB color space is a standard color space used for a wide variety of applications centering on computers.
・Adobe RGB*
The Adobe RGB color space, which encompasses a wider range of colors than the sRGB color space, is used for photo processing in photo retouch software and professional applications, such as commercial prints.
* Make sRGB settings for usual use, because the Adobe RGB color space cannot be used unless an image processing environment suitable to color profile handling is available.
• Availability of models and colors may differ depending on the country or region.
• Check the website of the Panasonic sales company in your country or region for details on the LUMIX models and optional accessories that are available in your market.
