Full HD Progressive

FULL HD

The DMC-GH3 gives you 1920 x 1080 60p [NTSC] / 50p [PAL] full HD recording in MOV, AVCHD Progressive and MP4 format. Progressive scanning records every frame, so the amount of data contained is twice that of interlace scanning, and the images have extremely high definition.

AVCHD Progressive

• 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) video recording is available in MOV / AVCHD Progressive video recording (not available in AVCHD).
• To set 1920 x 1080, 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) video recording in MP4, firmware must be updated to the latest version 1.1.

24p Video Recording

In addition to 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL) operation, you can freely set the frame rate to 30p (NTSC) 25p (PAL) or 24p according to your intended use.

72Mbps (ALL-Intra) / 50Mbps (IPB)

The DMC-GH3 is capable of recording ultra high bitrate video recorded at 72 Mbps (ALL-Intra) or 50 Mbps (IPB). And it is capable of recording continuously for an unlimited time*.

* In the model for PAL areas, motion image can be recorded in 29 min 59 sec.

Seamless File Generation

When recording the video in MOV, AVCHD Progressive and AVCHD, the DMC-GH3 automatically generates multiple seamless files for continuous recording. During playback, the AVCHD Progressive / AVCHD files are reproduced with seamless, interruption-free continuity.

Versatile Recording Format

Extended-time Recording of High-quality Images Original Heat-Dispersing Design

The DMC-GH3 also embeds SMPTE-compliant Time Code, which makes it easy to synchronize the multiple video footage or sound source in the post production workflow.

Right from the design stage, the DMC-GH3 pursued a hybrid structure for still and video images. A heat-dispersing design was used to enhance video shooting and enable extended recording of high-quality images.
