Bring Our Daughters & Sons To Work Day (Sunday, Apr 27, 2008)
On April 27th, Panasonic hosted the children of employees at its Secaucus, Rolling Meadows and Buffalo Grove facilities as part of national Bring Our Daughters & Sons To Work Day. The annual program treats children ages 8-12 to a day of activities including visits to Panasonic testing labs, time with their parents in their work place and hands-on Eco Ideas activities. More than 125 children participated this year.
"This is one of our favorite programs to do each year," said Megan Lee, Panasonic's Vice President of Human Resources. "The children are treated to a full day of enriching activities and a chance to learn about the company their parents work for and what they do here at Panasonic. I want to thank all of the employees that volunteered their time to create such a great day for the children."
Among the highlights of the day for children in Secaucus and Rolling Meadows was a visit to the Panasonic Test Kitchens. In Secaucus Panasonic's R&D/National Marketing Manager Ken Megarr (pictured) demonstrated Panasonic microwaves and let the children indulge in the results - popcorn and chocolate covered strawberries. They also learned about some cutting edge new products they will likely find in their kitchens in the near future.

Children in Buffalo Grove were treated to a demo by Panasonic Factory Solutions Company of America in which they were able to put on welding masks and watch a robot weld. In Secaucus the children also visited the Product Test Labs where they were treated to a look at Panasonic's new Z series VIERA Plasma which is less than one inch thin.
In honor of Earth Day, a number of this year's activities also took on an eco theme including hands-on projects and films about recycling and the environment. Children participating in Rolling Meadows and Buffalo Grove were asked to bring in old sneakers for a recycling project. More than 100 pairs of sneakers were collected and will be donated to Nike's ReUSE-A-Shoe program which turns the old shoes into athletic courts and playground surfaces.
