In Panasonic, employees and their family members proactively engage in local and global environmental activities, encourage lifestyles that preserve the environment, and develop revealing activities that invite participation: "Love the Earth Citizens’ Campaign" ("Activities").
'eco-ideas' Factory Biwako at the Kusatsu in Shiga prefecture, we established ‘open factory’ that achieve coexistence with local community through allowing residents to view on-site and promote environmentally-conscious manufacturing.
Tempra oil used in the company cafeteria in Panasonic and in ordinary houses located in Shiga Prefecture are collected, diverted to bio-fuel, and used in regional buses and trucks. Through the reuse of tempra oil, which had hitherto been discarded, it is possible not only to make effective use of resources but also to limit CO2 emissions.
The Yellow Sea Eco Region is a sea area whose biodiversity draws global attention, and has 23 areas designated for special protection. Panasonic is participating in the Yellow Sea Eco Region Support Project, which is jointly promoted by WWF International, WWF Japan, WWF China, KORDI in Korea, as an independent company providing financial and PR support.
