Panasonic is committed to "Universal Design" and its application for delivering "Welfare" based on our people-friendly manufacturing concept.
"Universal Design" is the design of products that offer greater ease of use by greater numbers of people.
Panasonic has set down six basic elements of universal design and is creating products that incorporate those elements.
We aim to provide vibrant, comfortable, fulfilling living through our products.

The results of our research on which button colors and displays are easiest to see for most people are introduced.
Some colors and displays are unsuitable for people affected by cataracts or color blindness.
You can actually experience what it would like to have impaired wearing the cataract simulation goggles and the impaired color vision simulation filter.

Panasonic conducts research on the auditory signals with respect to the pace of speech, sound frequencies, tone of the voice and the delivery and other characteristics of sounds.
You can experience how the people in different age groups hear the auditory signal over background noise.
Take a moment to listen to and compare different alarm sounds to experience which is easiest to hear.

We researched the normal postures and movements of users based on human engineering.
The research led us to identify specific angles to determine and commercialize the most comfortable shapes.
For example, our washing machine has become easier to use with a Tilted-drum. Compare which shape is the most comfortable for you.

Some of our welfare apparatus designed to offer assistance for caregivers and to enable independence of care receivers are introduced, including
･A voice IC tag recorder that provides information to "identify items" for the elderly and persons with impaired vision
･A portable conversation support unit for those who have speech disability and an upper-limb paraesthesia
