Kid Witness News

Kid Witness News

Kid Witness News (KWN) is Panasonic's global hands-on video education program created to encourage middle and high school students to develop valuable cognitive, communication and organizational skills through the use of video. The unique program provides schools with an array of video equipment and offers participants the opportunity to develop selected interests, abilities and creativity through the production of videos.
In Canada, students from 25 schools from across the country were challenged to write, produce and edit a short film to explore topics like communication, the environment, racism and current social issues. In April, budding young Canadian filmmakers were honored at the 18th annual Kid Witness News Awards.

Anti-Racism Campaign Support

Anti-Racism Campaign Support

Since 1996, the company has been a proud sponsor of the "Racism. Stop It!" National Video Competition, part of a campaign instituted by the Canadian federal government to stop racial discrimination and promote racial harmony. Reaching thousands of students each year, the competition invites youth aged 12-18 to express their thoughts on the elimination of racial discrimination by creating a 60 to 90 second video. Every year, the top ten videos are edited into a nationally televised Public Service Announcement and their producers are invited to a national awards ceremony.
