Volunteer Event of PME/PE employees
On June 26, 20 employees of Panasonic Marketing Europe Ltd.(PME)/ Panasonic Europe Ltd.(PE) were involved in volunteer event that was organized by the city of Wiesbaden and called 'Wiesbaden engagiert' ('Wiesbaden is committed'), where employees of companies located in the Wiesbaden area volunteer to give their time and expertise to support projects of real value to the community.
The event took place on a normal week day, 20 employees were kindly released from their office work by PE COO/PME MD Mr. Shiokawa in order to contribute to society.
The employees built a wooden hut, cleaned the school yard, worked in the school’s herb garden, cut trees and plants and did general garden work.
Cause-related marketing at Panasonic Germany
Hamburg - Panasonic Germany is very active in the field of cause-related marketing. For every VIERA Plasma TV sold between 1 July and 9 August 2008, 5 Euros were donated to the German Sports Association for the Handicapped (Deutscher Behindertensportverband e.V.). On 25 November, a symbolic check of 40,000 Euros was handed over to the president of the German Sports Association for the Handicapped by Armando Romagnolo of Panasonic.
Also, in conjunction with the VIERA Christmas Sales Campaign, Panasonic Germany supports the German Children's Cancer Aid Foundation (Stiftung Deutsche KinderKrebshilfe) with a donation of 5 Euros for every VIERA sold between November 17 and December 24, 2008. The donations will be used for further expansion of cancer centers throughout Germany, accommodation for parents near hospitals and research into new treatments.
Tree planting at Panasonic Germany
As part of the Global Eco Relay Campaign, Panasonic Germany
organized a tree planting activity in cooperation with the
"Nature Protection Fund LK Harburg" and the "
Fund Nature Reserve Luneburger Heide".
The project's aim is to improve the quality of ground water of nearby Hamburg, and to increase biodiversity through the trees' foliage.
On Friday 28 November, 92 employee volunteers of Panasonic Germany planted 1200 young trees on a site of one hectare,
and to secure their growth they built a fence of approximately 400 meters around the area, which is located in the famous nature reserve "Luneburger Heide" (Luneburg Heath).
The activity was held during working hours to make it easier for employees to participate, and proved to be good for team building and motivation as well.
Apart from this hands-on activity, Panasonic Germany will support more projects of the "Nature Protection Fund LK Harburg" with a donation of 5000 Euros.
Panasonic Germany supports river renaturalization project
Panasonic Germany involved its customers in its environmental efforts by donating €10 to environmental organization NABU for every lead-free VIERA Plasma TV sold. In November 2007, a total amount of €108,333 was donated to support the renaturalization of the lower Havel River.
