Yellow Sea Ecoregion Support Project

The Yellow Sea surrounded by China and the Korean Peninsula is noted for its extremely high biodiversity and rich fishing grounds since ancient times, due to its large continental shelf. The project covers the 460,000 square kilometer area that has been specified as the "Yellow Sea Ecoregion," including the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea. It aims for a bright future for both the marine ecosystem and the lives of the people along the coasts of the Yellow Sea.
In China the project will be implemented by WWF China in close cooperation with the State Oceanic Administration (SOA), China's administrative agency for the supervision and management of sea area uses and marine environmental protection. This relationship between WWF and SOA creates opportunities for joining hands with other regions with experience and know-how in marine conservation.

The 7-year Yellow Sea Ecoregion Support Project is structured as follows.

Panasonic supports the Yellow Sea Ecoregion Support Project as the first company in Asia to be named Corporate Supporter, WWF's international corporate partnership scheme. Apart from the Yellow Sea Ecoregion Support Project, Panasonic is involved in comprehensive environmental conservation, including working with WWF on Panasonic's paper purchasing policy in Japan in the light of forest conservation.
