Green Products

Power and water supply shortages are becoming more severe in China every year. Recognizing the strong demand for healthier and more eco-friendly lifestyles in the country, in July 2006 Panasonic initiated a program to upgrade the environmental performance of products sold in China. Specifically, we are labeling “environmental preservation products" that lead the industry in terms of energy or water conservation and that meet the relevant national standards of China. We are also promoting such products to consumers through in-store and media-based campaigns, based on the concept that using such products makes a positive environmental contribution. In fiscal 2007, we labeled 31 models of 7 different products in this way. One of the main products in this group was the NR-C28VX1 model of refrigerator, which boasts eco-friendly features such as our original vacuum insulation material “U-Vacua" (approximately 10 times more effective as an insulator than conventional urethane-based materials) and a new type of inverter compressor. Such advances lead to daily power consumption of 0.78kWh. That has gained the first class, highest level of "Chinese energy efficiency label", which National Development and Reform Commission of China and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine give to the consumer electronic products with high conservation of energy performance.
