Panasonic awarded the SAM Gold Class Distinction in Sustainability

Panasonic Corporation was presented with the SAM Gold Class Distinction in Sustainability on July 4, 2012.

SAM (Sustainable Asset Management), located in Switzerland, is the world's leading socially responsible investment (SRI) rating company. Each year SAM evaluates about 2,500 companies for their sustainability in the areas of economics, environment, and society, selecting the top CSR companies and awarding the best of these with Gold, Silver, or Bronze commendations.

Panasonic has been awarded the Gold Class distinction for four consecutive years, and on this occasion, SAM Executive Committee Member Daniel Wild presented the award at the Tokyo Panasonic Building.
This year Panasonic scored high points in the environment category in recognition of its efforts to integrate environmental contributions with business growth. SAM also commented that it gave high marks in the areas of brand management, customer relationship management, and corporate citizenship initiatives. When accepting the distinction, Senior Managing Executive Officer Takumi Kajisha said, "In our role as a Green Innovation Company, we believe that receiving high marks in the area of the environment is proof that Panasonic's vision and direction are aligned with everyone's expectations. We would like to continue to practice our management philosophy of contributing to society through our business activities and in this way live up to everyone's expectations."
