Panasonic awarded the "Gold Class" sustainability leader
Panasonic Corporation was awarded for being one of the world's most highly recognized companies for their sustainable business activities at the SAM Awards held in Tokyo on August 25, 2011.
SAM Group Holding AG is the world's leading social responsibility investment (SRI) rating company. Located in Switzerland, SAM annually assesses about 2,500 companies for their sustainability in three areas: economy, environment, society. Companies that excel in these areas are ranked as Gold, Silver, or Bronze.
Panasonic has received a Gold Class ranking three years running as it earned high marks for it's initiatives in occupational health and safety and climate change strategy implemented along its supply chain.

The SAM Awards are bestowed on Japan's leading companies in a ceremony run by SAM Group's parent company and Dutch investment management company Robeco Institutional Asset Management in Tokyo. This year there were seven Japanese companies awarded Gold Class.
