Breakdown of CO2 emissions from transportation

We measured 1.12 million tons of CO2 emissions from global transportation in fiscal 2007. Of these, transportation outside Japan accounted for 51% and domestic transportation 23%. Transportation by trucks accounted for 97% of total CO2 emissions in Japan. In accordance with Japan's revised Energy Conservation Law, we tried more accurate data collection and calculation. An amount of CO2 emissions from international logistics increased because of revision in calculation methods, from ton-kilo method to mileage and fuel consumption method.
Meanwhile, an amount of overseas CO2 emissions decreased due to a fluctuation of CO2 emission factors for ships and aircrafts transportation.
