Environmental Activities - Panasonic's "eco ideas" Strategy

Panasonic leads the way with "eco ideas". eco ideas

On October 5, 2007, Panasonic announced "eco ideas" strategy to accelerate its activities to realize one of the twin business visions, "Coexistence with the global environment", and promised to promote three ‘eco ideas' initiatives. We explain an overview of the presentation by Naoto Noguchi, Director of the Corporate Environmental Affairs Division.

1. "eco ideas" for Products

We will produce energy-efficient products.

The wide spread of home appliances featuring excellent environmental performance will reduce household energy consumption and lead to CO2 emissions reduction. We not only develop energy-efficient products, but make it widely known that our products reduce energy consumption and the emission of CO2, and accelerate the spread of them.

2. "eco ideas" for Manufacturing

We will reduce CO2 emissions across all our manufacturing sites

In our 'eco ideas' in Manufacturing, we work to reduce global CO2 emissions through improved productivity in all manufacturing processes, including product planning, production, sales, services. We aim to reduce total emissions to the FY2001 levels by FY2011.

3. "eco ideas" for Everybody, Everywhere

We will encourage the spread of environmental activities throughout the world.

Targeting employees and their families, we are promoting the "Love the Earth Citizens' (LE) Campaign" to transform their lifestyles into more environmentally-conscious ones. As the first step for the global promotion, we had a CO2 reduction campaign in July 2007 with 130,000 employees in China and Japan.
