Announced Panasonic Asia Pacific ‘eco ideas’ Declaration 2010
On June 1, 2010, Panasonic announced the activity results in 2009 and the new mid-term targets for 2012 in Asia Pacific at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
Against the targets in the 2009 ‘eco ideas’ Declaration, Panasonic achieved all of those set in Manufacturing and Global Citizenship Activities and is making steady progress in Products whose target was set for 2012.
Aiming to realize Panasonic Group’s vision for the 100th anniversary of its founding, Panasonic pledges to promote activities in Asia Pacific in two key areas - ‘eco ideas’ for Lifestyles and ‘eco ideas’ for Business-styles.

Targets of Asia Pacific ‘eco ideas’ Declaration 2010
‘eco ideas’ for Lifestyles
- Increase regional sales contributed by eco products from 49% to 80% by March 2013 in comparison with the level of the fiscal year ended March 2010
- Develop a Panasonic Global ECO LEARNING PROGRAM in the Asia Pacific region
- Utilize social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, etc.) to generate eco awareness and inculcate eco habits
‘eco ideas’ for Business-styles
- Achieve 500,000 tons in a size of contribution in reducing CO2 emissions from production activities*1 by March 2013.
- Develop 4 more ‘eco ideas’ Factories*2 in Asia Pacific (India, Indonesia Vietnam and Philippine) by 2013
*1 In comparison with the case without improvement after March 31, 2006
*2 The ‘eco ideas’ Factory is a model factory which lives in harmony with local communities and stakeholders, as well as embodies Panasonic’s environmental strategy with two key initiatives; ‘eco ideas’ for Lifestyles and ‘eco ideas’ for Business-styles
Students who participated in eco education programOn the same day, an awarding ceremony of the Environmental Champions Project Competition in the environmental education program, Panasonic-NEA Environment Champions (Schools) Industry Module, which started in Jan. 2010 was held. A total of 174 students and teachers including the 33 teams who submitted proposals to the competition attended, and those who passed preliminary screening received seed funding to implement their environmental projects from Panasonic. The best project will be announced in Oct. 2010.
