Panasonic Network Cameras can transfer still images in JPEG format automatically to your PC via e-mail or FTP by setting up a timer or an alarm. - Timer: Images can be transferred to the designated e-mail address or FTP server at a set time, or at a set rate within a certain time frame.
- Alarm: When using an external sensor, images can be transferred to the designated e-mail address or FTP server when the sensor detects motion or other abnormalities.
Procedure (Timer) - On the Setup page, click [Image Transfer], and then click [Timer].
- Under “Active Time of Trigger”, select when you want the camera to send images. There are two timer modes, Primary and Secondary. Once the operational time for Primary Time has been set, for example Monday to Friday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M., Secondary Time automatically becomes all times not included in Primary Time, in this case, weeknights from 5 P.M. until 9 A.M. the next morning, and weekends.
- Primary Time
Primary time can be set to be active only during specific times, or always.
Always: Images will always be sent at the rate (X images per second/minute/hour) set below under “Image Buffer Frequency Setting”.
Operational between: Images will be sent during the operational times set here, at the rate set below under “Image Buffer Frequency Setting”. Note that the day of the week set here indicates the day of the start time, not the stop time.
- Secondary Time
If enabled, Secondary Time is active when Primary Time is not, therefore if Primary Time is set to [Always], Secondary Time is automatically disabled.
Check [Enable] when to activate image transfer during Secondary Time.
- Under “Image Setting”, set the resolution and quality of the images to be transferred.
- Image Resolution
Select 640 x 480, 320 x 240, or 160 x 120. Higher resolution images will consume more space in the camera’s buffer and take longer to send via e-mail or FTP.
- Image Quality
Select whether you want standard quality, better image clarity, or better motion.
- Under “Image Buffer Frequency Setting”, set the rate at which you want the Network Camera to send images via e-mail or FTP.
If you set a rate here that is faster than what your network environment can handle, the camera will not be able to send images at the desired rate. When this happens, the camera will send only an “old” image -- the same image over and over again.
- Under “Transfer Method”, configure the Network Camera to transfer images to the desired destination by e-mail.
Click the button next to “Mail”, and enter the following information. Consult your ISP or network administrator for details.
- Outgoing mail (SMTP)
SMTP Server Address or Host Name
(Should look something like “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” or “mail.xxx.com”.)
- Incoming mail (POP3)
POP3 Server Address or Host Name
(Should look something like “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” or “mail.xxx.com”.)
- Login ID
Enter the login ID registered with the POP3 (e-mail) server. This is the e-mail account login ID, not the login ID used to access the internet.
(Your ISP may refer to this login ID as the “POP account” or “Account Name”.)
- Password
Enter the password registered to the login ID entered above.
From (Reply)
Enter the e-mail address of that the message and images will be sent from. We recommend entering the e-mail address for the Network Camera administrator.
- To
Enter the e-mail address to which you want to send the message and images.
- Subject
Enter the subject for e-mail messages sent by the Network Camera.
- Text
Enter the text which will appear in e-mail messages sent by the Network Camera.
- After all appropriate data has been entered, click [Save] when finishing. If all the necessary information was entered, the message “You set up successfully” appears. If the message “Error” is displayed, click the [Back] button on your browser and make sure all information was entered correctly. Note, when setting up the Network Camera to transfer images via e-mail, there should be information entered in each field under “E-mail”. The FTP section can be left blank.
Notes:
The Network Camera’s date and time must be set in order to use the timed transfer feature.
When configuring your Network Camera to transfer images, check to ensure that the Default Gateway or DNS Server address is properly configured in the Network window.
When images are transferred by the Network Camera via e-mail or FTP, they are stored in the camera’s buffer prior to being sent. Any existing images in the camera's buffer will be erased when you perform the following operations:
- Turn off the power.
- Click “Save” after changing Image Transfer settings.
- Modify the camera’s date and time settings.
- Click“Restart” on the Setup Page.
- Update the camera’s firmware.
- Reset the camera to the factory default settings.
- Click [Start Capture] button, if you select [Non Transfer] under [1. Trigger Setting].
- Click [Clear Buffered Images].
