2007. April
High-Precision Security Measures with the Use of Iris Recognition.

High-precision access management with iris recognition The University of the Ryukyus-Okinawa Prefecture's only national university-installed iris recognition access control systems in the computer server rooms of its administration bureau and Computing and Networking Center. This system has a false acceptance rate of less than 1/1,200,000 and contributes to reinforcing the security of all important areas that defend the integrity of the centralised facilities containing student information and the in-house LAN system.

System Outline

Iris recognition access control systems utilising BM-ET330 iris cameras were installed at the entrances to the computer server rooms in the administration bureau and Computing and Networking Center. Verification is automatically carried out when the eye is aligned with the mirror equipped on the front panel of the BM-ET330 cameras, and the lock on the door is automatically released when the identification of the subject has been confirmed. This system, which enables access to be controlled both smoothly and accurately without people having to carry cards or keys, is extremely highly rated.
