Question1. I will go on to a Japanese undergraduate course (or a doctor course). Could I apply for Panasonic Scholarship?

Answer1.

No, you cannot. Panasonic Scholarship is offered only for master's courses (in science or engineering fields) at Japan's universities, not for bachelor and doctor degrees.

Question2. Do I need Japanese-language abilities?

Answer2.

Yes, you do. Level-2 to Level-1 of Japanese Language Proficiency Test are essential to carry out your research and study with Japanese students.

However, we do not ask you about your Japanese language abilities at the point of application.

After you are nominated as Panasonic Scholarship Student, you have to study Japanese and take JLPT and pass at least level-3 of the test in your country. JLPT is offered usually once a year in December all over the world. If you fail in the test of level-3 before departing for Japan, you have to take the test again in Japan and pass at least level-3 as your second trial during the first year after your arrival. If you fail in the test of JLPT level-3 as your second trial, you will be disqualified as Panasonic Scholarship Student afterwards.

When you pass JLPT level-3 as your first or second trial, please continue to study Japanese and pass the level 1-2 of JLPT as your next challenge.

Question3. Is anybody whose nationalities are not Asian eligible to apply for Panasonic Scholarship?

No, he/she is not eligible to apply to our program. Furthermore, our application and selection procedures are conducted only at our designated countries and area such as China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam. Anybody whose nationalities are not in these seven countries and area can't apply for Panasonic Scholarship.

Question4. Do you have a domestic application program?

No, we don't. Our application and selection is only proceeded at the above seven countries and area.

Question7. I am going to study at a Japan's graduate school for a short period. Can I apply for Panasonic Scholarship?

No, you can't. We offer scholarship to those who are seeking master degrees in science or engineering areas at Japan's graduate schools. We don't offer scholarship programs for the students with short-term study or exchange programs between universities.

Question8. I plan to study in the US. Can I apply for Panasonic Scholarship?

Answer8.

No, you can't. Our scholarship is only for Asian students from our designated countries and area who are seeking master degrees in science or engineering fields at Japan's graduate schools, not at other countries'.

Question9. Can you explain about the application procedures?

From December through April in the following year, the announcement of application starts at our designated countries and area. The application processes are different according to countries and area. Therefore, please directly ask your local office about the details. Question10. Can I receive any other scholarship together with Panasonic Scholarship?

Answer10.

No, you can't. Panasonic Scholarship Students can't receive any other scholarships including governmental scholarships, simultaneously.
