Even today about 1.2 billion people worldwide live without electric light and face a variety of education, health, medical, and other challenges. We invite you to join us in providing solar lanterns and the light of hope to these people.

How to Get Involved

Receive a donation of solar lanterns from Panasonic

Under the 100 Thousand Solar Lanterns Project, we donate solar lanterns once a year (per target country) to non-profit, non-governmental, international and other organizations that are working to address social challenges and improve the quality of life at the local level.

Criteria for Applications

  • Solar lanterns are to be used in activities that address social challenges in one of these areas: education, health/medicine, women's empowerment.
  • In principle, the solar lanterns are to be used in places where people gather, such as schools, health centers, and meeting places, rather than being given to individuals or to households.
However, there may be exceptions, such as for midwives and teachers.
  • The applicant must have sound foundations as an organization.
  • The applicant must be capable of handling a certain minimum number of solar lanterns
  • The applicant must be prepared to submit photos and written reports about the use of the solar lanterns at least a certain number of times and at certain intervals after receiving the donation.
  • Donations are being made for the following countries:
Asia: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines
    Africa: Tanzania
(Please contact us to inquire about other countries and regions.)

* After reviewing each application, Panasonic will determine whether or not a donation can be made.

* Please understand that due to limited resources, it may not be possible to fully satisfy all applicants' requests.

* Panasonic will decide the model of solar lantern to be donated.

Make a donation of solar lanterns

The 100 Thousand Solar Lanterns Project is working toward a target of donating 100,000 lanterns, but this target alone will not meet the needs of everyone living in areas without electricity. Please help us to provide solar lanterns to more people who need electric light.
